I used to cut myself and now I have stopeed completely. I have tons of scars left on my thighs and arms. I have been using medicine for the scars and some of the scars have disappeared but its taking awhile.

I am so afraid I might have to go to the Dr. If I get sick and they will see my scars and tell my parents. What if I have to go to the Dr. Is my greatest fear because then they will see it.

Does anybody have a solution for this? Anybody at all? Please...

Thanks in advance for any replies and any advice will be appreicated.

Im sorry to hear that you used to do that to yourself, but I am glad to hear that you've stopped now. :) if it helps, there is a scar cream called truderm that gets rid over the scars a lot quicker. Have a look on that website. There are loads of scar treating creams. This website may be better for you if your in the u.K.

Hope ive helped!

If you are worried, go and see a doctor who doesnt treat your parents!

If you mention up front you have depression and have been cutting-but are using cream to help the scars heal, he wont have to question it. And he may even prescribe something for you, for free!

Dont Let Anxiety Stop You!
Dont be afraid to go to the doctors poetmcc....If the docs ask you what happened to your arms and things you can just say " oh I scratched myself but was prescribed medication to treat these scars"....Etc...And then maby he might ask you what medication out of curiosity to see what brand you are using and you can tell him that also....He wont bite....And then maby he might suggest you something for it, or give you something...Or he might not say anything at all....If he notices the scars...So what...If he asks you about the scars...So what...No worries!....I know its hard...But no worries...And one more note....Its actually your anxiety and the anxiety provoking thoughts that are stopping you from going to the doctors...I will let you know some of the ways to beat these thoughts as I was taught through a councellor...It worked really well....I will post it in a new thread very soon...

Thank You So Much...one Last Question?
Hey guys, thanks so much for the replies. It made me feel so much better that somone took the time to do this. :d

seksihily,
i was wondering, are you sure my doctor can't tell them? I am under 18 so I thought they were required by law to tell parents about cutting and stuff?

Down123,
thanks for the pm btw. If I told my doc. I scratched myself will she bvelive me? The scars are pretty bad to tell you the truth. And if I tell I am taking meds for them, won't it just make it worse that she will be mad I didn't tell my parents?

Sorry to bother you guys again, I am desperate though. You guys are really the greatest...Thanks again for posting. :d

Alot of the time if you admit it, oh yea I used to cut myself, they assume someone else is dealing with it and you are dealing with it and there's nothing left to worry about.

I've gone to the docs a couple times with fresh burns/cuts.... Wasn't really comfortable. But they didn't ask anything outright, just were like, that doesn't look too good. I was like, eh, it's ok. It doesn't hurt. I watch kids, and sometimes they notice my cuts (sh*t sh*t sh*t) and I tell them i'm a clutz and scratched myself again, falling or walking through some bushes again. The docs are alot easier to fool than the kids.

But if they are all old, just talking about it nonchalantly like it's no big deal and the doc will think it's no big deal too.

Sometimes I wish it wasn't that way, when I wanted a doc to stop me and help me but I wasn't capable of asking for help, so I just acted nonchalant, and so nothing was done. So its almost too effective. Of course, I am the little actress, or so i'm told........
