Q: Am I At Risk?

4 years ago I had unprotected anal sex w an hiv person as the 'bottom'. I have had the oral 'swab' test 3 times since then and it has come out negative. Since then I have only been with one other person and I waited a year after my first negative test to start having sex with him. Can hiv remain dormant or would it have shown up by now?

Hiv Risk
Whilst the scenario you describe is one of the most risky for hiv infection, a negative test after one year is conclusive - you are hiv negative. It is extremely unlikely that you will have not seroconverted (turned from hiv- to hiv ) in this length of time.
Also, let's clear up what 'dormant' means in hiv. The hiv virus can be dormant in your body, and this means that no sympoms will be present, and this is long term, perhaps up to ten years (if medication is taken, it can of course be dormant for much longer). However, the virus can still be detected by testing during this time, as soon as antibodies are produced by the body, and this is when seroconversion takes place (in the vast majority of cases, this happens within a couple of months).
So if I were you, i'd put this behind you and vow never again to have unprotected anal sex.
