I couldn't find my iud string, so I went to my ob, he did the papsmear and he said, "i cannot see the string, we will have to do a stenogram." well he did, he said that th iud was in place, and the reason he couldn't see the string was because my uterus was too swollen, well I waited for my period and for the uterus to go back to its normal size, I have been checking for this, looking for the string, but I cannot find it!
Should I take it out and use another birthcontrol method, or should I just keep it for the next 2 years? I am worried about the iud growing skin around it, and then I won't be able to have children any more, that's what people have been telling me.!

I once had an iud and it became imbedded in my cervix. They had to yank it out and it hurt like heck! I was in my 20's then.
They are effective for birth control, but they can cause problems..Especially the longer they are in.
If it really bothers you, have it taken out and use another form of birth control. I still have mine in a little container to remind me to never again have one ever again!
