M.s, College, And Excersise Posted: 06-12-05 04:40am
Hey im new here.... Been diagnosed with
m.S since I was 10 years old and im 18
now. I was diagnosed back in 97 in the
fourth grade and have finished highschool
this year. I am really eager and at
the same time scared too start college
because I was besieged with attacks this
year (6 episodes since december) and prior
to this year my ms had been in a stable 3
yr remission. My recent attack occured
2 weeks ago; I became extremely dizzy to
the point where id actually throw up and
not too mention the left sided facial
numbness which I still have; it really
hasnt changed much; I admitt the dizzyness
has nearly subsided but the facial
numbness and impaired walking remains.
Ultimately I am getting really
pissed off and depressed. I like to
stay active and athletic but now am afraid
to because of all my recent attacks.
I am afraid to excersise in fear of the
concequences. Im currently 5-11 and
165lbs and would like to gain more muscle
and my old cardio habbits back. Prior
to this harsh year I would run 3 miles a
day and lift weights somewhat routinely.
I am looking for advice, and the
current medications I am on are zenopax
and the copaxone injections. I have
relapse remitting m.S.
Questions-
a well balanced diet- yes, or
no????- currentlyi do not diet im a
teenager I eat fatty foods such as chips,
mcdonalds, cake, beer. Will a balanced
diet make me feel better?
Excercise- how much without over
doing it????
Vitamins- anysuggestions?? Im on
b-6, vitamin e and salmon oils
will every attack decrease my ability
to reach 100% like I use to feel early
last year? Walking is off right now I
fear I might have a limp or walking
impediment my whole life.
