I have been getting bouts of sharp pains in my left side, bottom rib area (at the front), and at the same time, get a sharp pain in my left inside calf. The pain is moderate in intensity, but does bring me to a halt. The pain lasts for 2-3 seconds at a time. I generally get a bout of 10-20 of these at a time, and then they subside.

My doctor has suggested that it may be linked to a back problem that I have, but has never encountered this before. He seemed to find the fact that the two pain sites are so far away, a bit strange, and slightly unbelievable.

Has anyone got any ideas or advice??
