Okay well to start off im 14 years old and im goen to be a sophmore next year. Last time I went to the er I had been diagnosed with ovarian cists, not just one or two, a cluster. And now whenever I start my period I am in so much pain and then when I end it I usually go to the er cuz im in so much pain. The doctors at ucd and sutter keep telling me I will grow out of them. What should I do? Any advice or anything that will help?? And im also very active, im a cheerleader, soccer player, softball player and dancer. So sometimes my cists make it hard for me to do anything. Thanks, nicole

You Need to See An Obgyn
I'm 18 years old and when I was 16 I had my first ovarian cysts burst in the middle of class. It is the worse feeling in the world. I went to the er and my mom got me in with the obgyn that she worked with at the time. After an ultrasound and a few hours of waiting she said there was nothing they could do other than pain meds. To help keep cysts from forming she put me on birth control. I'm not sexually active so my pills are only to help with my cysts. I with I could tell you that they help 100% but that's not true. I had another one burst when I was 17, but since I had gone through it before I didn't go to the er I just sat at home and took some pain meds. I've since gone off the pill because it was becoming to much money and I still have the cysts. This website helped me understand more of what goes on with my ovaries http://www.4woman.Gov/faq/ovarian_cysts.Ht m . I hope that I have helped you in some way. Just know that you can still be active with them, I was in the marching band for 4 years. I've learned how when I have them and when I should be ready for them to burst. Just be sure to tell your obgyn why you are there and remember not to be scare when you do go.

You Wont Grow Out of Them!!
I am 22, started out with one cyst on my right ovary and now I have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and have approximately 20 cysts on each of my ovaries. Being active is actually a good thing because once they bust you will feel better for awhile, but eventually they will come back again. And yes you do need to see a obgyn!

I was diagnosed with polysystic olvarian disease when I was 13. Doctor put me on birthcontrol to control them. She said if I ever decided to have kids it would be hard to get pregnant :'( but I.ve learned to deal wit them. I haven't gotten re tested in years so I want to ask my doctor to test me again now that I'm 24 and older just to see what's going on
