Q: Health Insurance For Child With Pulmonary Stenosis
asked by: Joyce Erickson on November 12th, 2003

I would like to inquire if anyone can help my daughter to get insurance on her child. The child is healthy in all ways except she has 27% pulmonary stenosis. The doctors say that she may never have to have surgery and if she does it will probably be after she is grown, however insurance companies will not accept her. Question

The same thing happened to me with my son. The doctor thought that he had a hip click and that he may need surgery so he sent him to a specialist..Come to find out it was nothing, but the insurance company still denied him insurance because they felt it was a liability. I went to my local social services department and applied for something called .F.A.M.I.S. It's health insurance for children. If you qualify, your child can get full coverage. You'll get a card in the mail just like any other health insurance company. I don't know if you have .F.A.M.I.S in your state, but i'm sure you have something like it. You should visit your local social services department. I'm sure they'll have something there.

For the Child
Try to contact your state government as mentioned above. If that doesn't work, you need to have a job with benefits. Individual medical will not cover your child's condition. Chances are the state of texas will take care of you.
