My dad had an ischemic stroke in march and today while we were watching tv he had a grand mal seizure. I thought to god that he was having another stroke and frantically called the paramedics. We rushed him to the hospital and in a matter of minutes he had another grand mal that completely wiped him out and left him dazed and confused and very sleepy. I can say without a doubt that it was the most terrifying thing that I have ever witnessed in my entire life. I thought he was dying right there and there was little that I could do to help.

He was admitted to the hospital for observation had a ct. Thankgoodness they said it came back clear of any indication of a new stroke, but tomorrow they are going to do an eeg to try to determine what was the cause, and put him on anti seizure medication. They warned us back in march that he could possibly at some point down the road develope seizures, but it completely hit me off guard. It was absolutely horrifying.

All I am looking for is a little advice and some information. I have never really known anyone with seizures and I dont know what to expect. You know how doctors can be about not taking enough time to explain things properly because they are extremely busy, so I am reaching out to you all and whatever little bit of advice and help that you can give me.
