Amy,
just caught your post in passing so to speak.
Just thought i'd stop to say to you, and anyone else reading this post that may benefit:
never be embarrased to see medical and/or psychological/psychiatric consultants about anything.
Other people have also said words to this effect on other posts on this site, and I agree that when your health and well-being are in distress, you owe it to yourself to do the best you can to get a resolution to your problem(s).
In most countries such experts are required to keep your concerns, as in regards to your health, well-being and privacy, utmost in importance. It is also your right, in most countries, to request a suitable substitute if you have a legitimate reason (i.E. A female may choose to temporarily see a female practitioner for certain problems, or a male may request a male practitioner), if it makes you feel more comfortable.
No-one should let themselves suffer or even come to harm if it can be at all prevented.
:)
