Q: Please Help Me

My mother has been told she is going through peimenopause.
She has been given medication by the doctor but they are doing nothing for her mood swings.
I appriciate that the menopause is a hard thing to go through and that one day I will also go through this but her mood swings are destroying our family, she's spiteful, nasty and she doesn't care what she says or who she hurts including her grandchildren.
We've never had a good relationship but the menopause is making things ten times worse, she's tried st johns wort, royal jelly, evening primrose, all sorts of things.
Has anyone got any other suggestions or know of anything that will help her to control her temper before I kill her or she kills me!

Help Is Out There
Devonmaid, your mom needs to go to her doctor and say how she`s feeling. Once she accepts this she can begin to deal with it. I`m also going through the menopause, and believe me its s***. I cried my eyes out in the doctors surgery but believe me I felt better coming out than when I went in. You think your going mad with all these strange things happening to you. Things have improved for me, the symptoms I can cope with now, i`m 46 .

Ssri's
The serotonin reuptake inhibitors (paxil ilk) are sometimes of use for this episode of adjustment
short term low dose hrt is also an option if things are unbearable
quality of life is important, very
and I cannot emphasize enough, serious exercise...Start with walking and work your way to sweat level activities, this truly helps with so many meno issues
some women even quarter up their patches and use tiny doses until they get over the hurdles
talk to a compassionate woman doctor
i have never understood why a man would want to be a gynecologist...Umm
