Back pain describes pain or discomfort felt in the upper, middle, or lower back. The pain may extend to the hips and legs as well. The back consists of a complex arrangement of bone, ligaments, joints, muscles, and nerves, and pain can result from a problem with any of these components.

The most common cause is a strain of the back, which is small tear of the back muscles or ligaments. This usually results from a sudden or awkward movement, or from lifting a heavy object. But often, a person can’t remember a particular incident that brought on the pain.

My chiropractor has me do something called a "wobble." you stand on a balance board on one leg and do arm raises. This strengthens your core muscles. You can also do core exercises with a pilates or balance ball.

Bridges are another one my doctor makes me do. You get in push-up position, except with knees on the floor, and raise one arm and the opposite leg at the same time. Repeat sides.

I am currently looking for other exercises besides these to vary my routine. If you find any, let me know!
