Ok, I am 21 years old, about 3 years ago I started to feel sort of sick all the time and fatigued. My concentration seemed like that of a 5 year old and I had pressure and headaches in my forehead area, and a chronic cough in which I would regularly cough up phlegm (sp?). I ignored it for a long time thinking it would just go away, it didnt of course, went to the doctor and he misdiagnosed it several times and just put me on a z-pack antibiotics which of course did nothing. So in short ive had this infection for 3 years, and the doctors are so incompetent where I live (that or my doc is an fool) that it was only until recently when I travelled all the way from midland, texas to scottsdale, arizona to go to the mayo clinic to find out what the hell was wrong.

So a few days of testing and cat scans and such they figured it was a massive infection of the frontal sinuses. This was in january of this year. So they put me on singulair and an antibiotic and told me to irrigate my sinuses and it should go away. It didnt. So I saw the ent doc here in town, he put me on prednisone (10 mg, 4 for 3 days, 3 for 3 days, so on. Didnt work. So I had sinus surgery in which he enlarged the passage and allowed the infection to drain out, also fixed my deviated septum.

Its been almost 2 months since the surgery, and my symptoms have not been alleviated at all. He has since put me back on prednisone and cefroxidime with a tapered dosage on the steroid. That didnt work, then he put me on a low sustained dosage of the steroid again, which didnt work (30 days). I am now using tobradex drops and im at the end of my rope here. Im seriously losing it, feeling like crap every day for 3 years has taken a huge toll on me, and the thought of living with this for the rest of my life is very, very depressing. Please, if anyone out there has any suggestions, any at all I would appreciate it. I have to get rid of this infection, or I think im gonna have a nervous breakdown or something. So any help would be appreciated...

Oh, something I forgot, the reason that I am even posting here is because my ear nose throat doc doesnt know why im not feeling better. He had to ask some of his colleagues what I should do and is why im using the tobradex drops now. Since nothing else has worked, I dont think this will either. Ive read that chronic sinusitis like this is hard to get rid of, but ive tried virtually everything that is suggested, im even using echinacea and goldenseal, irrigating my sinuses, and soaking my head in really hot and cold water. Dont know what do do about it anymore

I read you post and was wondering if you had any success.

I understand how you feel. I first started to get sinus problems when I was 16 now 29. I had 3 operations second op a septoplasty and after the septoplasty I did not want to have another operation because it was very painful and I had no relief. So I have just been living with it, I have been to doctors and most of them just give or give me a lame reason. I have tried all the sprays antibotics etc.

My symptoms are very simular to yours. The worst part is the concertration and fatigue. It's hard for me to even read a book. I suffer from dry eyes as well I don't know if it's linked to the sinus. I discovered endoscopic surgery about 12mths ago and 3 weeks ago I had the surgery. I had to have another septoplasty cause of the crapy ent that did it the first time did not straighten the septom. I can now breath excellent and sleep really good. I only got about 4hrs sleep before constantly waking up.

But I still feel fatigued, facial pressure/pain and concertration is poor.

I would like to hear from you to see if you have had any success.
