I have a question, I just started the ring
and I've heard that your breast get
bigger, is this true? All the side effects
I have read on here make me a little
uncomfortable because for all my friends
that use it none of them have any
problems. Is there anything good about
this or is this the site that everyone
complains about everything?

Your breasts may swell a bit but not get
bigger. Not permanently, anyhow. And yes,
lots of people come on this site to
complain about things. Some people get
side effects with many different kinds of
birth control , but most people don't. And
the good thing is, if you start to notice
awful side effects, you can stop it. You
can always switch to something else. It's
worth giving it a try.
Lilypad- honestly I wouldn't worry about
it. Maybe mention it to your doc next time
that you are trying to lose weight, but it
really shouldn't effect your chances of
getting pregnant. But if you are taking
any regular supplements (including
hydroxycut), I would check with a
pharmacist to make sure they don't
interact. I don't think they do, but it's
worth checking.

Robindr, maybe you don't have it inserted
far enough into your vagina. Just for a
guideline, mine is usually in about half
the length of my index finger or more.
The "instructions" for the ring do say
that if you experience discomfort, you may
need to push it farther in.
You could also be having a reaction. I
would give it another chance; if you are
still experiencing discomfort after the
first couple of weeks, see your doctor for
something else.

I have been on it almost a year if not a
year.
I've had no trouble with it. Very
effective.
The only annoyance is that it comes out
during sex more often than not.

Nuva Ring! Posted: 06-27-07 12:43pm
Hey, I just thought I'd give my 2 sense as
well. I am a pretty petite girl and I
don't do very well with body changes. I've
been on lots of different birth control
methods, all of which were aimed at the
smaller body type, and I had serious side
effects from all of them, and was told I
may even not be able to have children,
which was really depressing. My husband
and I decided that we would try the
nuvaring, after sitting with my doctor. I
have a lot of Pharmaceutical Reps in my
family and a few nurses and doctors too,
all of which highly regarded the nuvaring.
I haven't had any side effects as of yet.
It’s only been a few months, but we're
in the clear thus far. My breasts have
gotten about 1.5 sizes bigger, which I'm
not a huge fan of because I have a small
frame so its not something I'm used to. In
any event, my husband loves it. I don't
have mood swings, cramps, and my period is
really regular. In the directions it
specifically states that the ring needs to
be put back in place at the same time 7
days later. By sticking to the directions,
you significantly reduce your chances of
becoming pregnant while on the ring. Also,
there is an optimal BC for everyone out
there. Consult a doctor who is familiar
with your body and its needs. Some girls
become more fertile while on the ring,
which got them pregnant very quickly. I
suggest you read through the Nuvaring
website, a girl above posted the link I
think, but I'm pretty sure that it is
nuvaring.com. In any event, always read
through the side effects, prescriptions
that may interfere with the ring, and the
frequently asked questions as well. Asking
other people what their opinion is on
something doesn't always get you the
correct answer. Seek medical assistance if
you are wondering if the ring is right for
you. As someone who wants to be a doctor I
always suggest that if you need medical
advise you go to the people who are
trained to give it. Everybody’s body is
different, and we have to remember that
everyone will react differently. Its great
to let people know the things that can
happen, but we need to analyze our own
medical background and body temperaments,
as well as medical advise, to know if
things are right for us. These are our
bodies that we are putting these in to, no
ones opinion is worth risking your health.
If you do not have insurance to be able to
seek medical advise, I suggest that you
visit a planned parenthood as they can
assist you as well. Sometimes the
information that they have isn't as
medically oriented, but its better than no
medical advise at all. Hope that helps all
the worriers out there. Hang in there, and
find what works best for you, after all it
is YOUR body!

Re: Nuva Ring Feedback? Posted: 07-29-07 23:58pm
Before using Nuva I used bc pill for years
and I have never had any bad
exper.....however I could never commit to
a set schedule or rem to take them
properly so I talked to my doc & she
recom the nuva ring which I have been on 4
about 2 1/2yrs & no problems for me
....EVERY1's body is different after
reading all this feedback I was shocked
with the difference in experiences. I
don't mind it....it is easy to commit to
.....I do get major food craving around
periods more w/ nuva than any other bc
methods used in past......husband felt it
in beginning of use but has gotten over
it! So far I have had no issues....I would
recom it
What I wonder is like most bc methods and
depending on person how long it would take
2 get preg......I wanted 2 no if any1 who
has used nuva 4 a long period who has
gotten off to try to have a baby.....has
had any problems I am going to try to get
preg soon any comments or feedback

Nuvaring question: I previously was on the
pill and stopped taking it a month ago. I
was supposed to start the ring this month.
The problem is that I left the ring at
school and came home to visit for a few
days and started my period while I'm here.
So I'm not going back to school until
tomorrow and therefore cannot put the ring
in until the 2nd day of my period. I'm not
sure if this is okay or not and I can't
really find any information anywhere, so
any feedback would help. Thanks!

That's totally fine Because you'll have
put it in during your period you will be
safe.

I have to add my two cents about the
Nuvaring. No, it didn't make my breats
bigger. No, I didn't have any weird
problems. But I got really overly
emotional on it for a while, and it took
me a while to even out. Also, I am built
really small internally and
insertion/removal was painful...esp. sex

Really? Is sex always painful for you or
just with the ring??
When I had the ring in my vaginal area
would be irritated and sore, especially
during sex- but when I stopped it was
fine.

Always -- so it may have just been me. I
even went to my doctor over it who just
said I was built so small which is why it
hurt. Every time hurts like "the first
time." I just changed to the pill so I
haven't tried without the ring yet -- I'm
hoping that it will help.

That's not fun. If your doctor won't help
you with this problem I would suggest
seeing another doctor or a sex therapist.
You shouldn't have to deal with painful
sex.

I know...you're right. I have a good
partner though (we saw each other
infrequently due to distance)...when we
were together it got better after some
time and then it seems like time apart
always undid the good we did.
but now that i moved (closer) for good and
got rid of the nuvaring i expect things to
get better. I honestly think the ring had
alot to do with it...that was my only
complaint. despite that and the fact that
it always came out during sex (and I
didn't find it until the next day on
several occasions..YIKES), It was very
convenient

I have had the dryness, soreness, burning,
and yeast infections. Two days after
putting in the ring for the first time I
had a yeast infection and it was a bad
one! Ever since then I am so dry I bleed
sometimes because my skin is so irritated.
The soreness and burning after sex is
horriable! My husband and I have only had
sex 2 times since I started. Then I got a
two day period a couple days into my 2nd
week. It was very dark almost brown, and
I've had light bleeding since. (like when
you wipe when you go to the bathroom
instead of white discharge it's almost
brown.) But I'm not bleeding all the time
you know. I don't know what to do or what
is going on! I have had problems with BC
since I got off the Depo. I had to get off
the depo because I was having such bad
pregnancy symptoms after being on it for 3
years. Other than that I never had
problems with it. Hopefully I can go back
on. I can not be on a pill thats how I got
my son (taking it correctly) and the patch
really messed me up I was having periods
every 2 weeks. I refuse to start the ring
again after my off week, my husband is
just going to have to suffer until I go to
my appt. i guess.

I just started the ring and this is my
first week with it out. I started getting
head pains bad and was cramping bad. My
husband an I had unprotected sex during
the 1st month and when I got pregnant with
my first child I was having same pains. Is
it possible that I could be? I'm not
sure. My baby girl is only 14months old
and I'm not ready for another one.

PMS symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are
very similar so there's no way to tell
just from that. You'll have to test.

1 and a half what? A test should show a
few weeks after the unprotected sex.
