I've been on it for 4 years
I have been on the nueva ring for four years me and my best friend started it within a month of each other. I like the nueva ring, it is a really easy form of birth control, since being on it i have gone from really heavy periods to almost nonexistent ones. My boobs have really grown. when i started on the nueva i was a b cup and now i am an f. there has also been steady weight gain. When i started on nueva i weighed about 130 now i am at 175.I have not noticed any kind of drop in my sex drive at all, if anything its grown. My boyfriend usually cannot feel it during sex. When it comes to feeling it i think it has more to do with the guys size, and about it coming out i thing that has to do with how deep your vagina is. i have never gotten pregnant even though i dont use condoms with my boyfriend. I also have migraine headaches which might be caused by the hormones in the nueva but i am not sure. I am thinking about switching to an iud, mirena, to see if the headaches are caused by the hormones. over all i really like this birth control. i recommend the nueva if you have trouble remembering the pill or if you just want a really easy birth control. one other thing the nueva is pretty expensive $55 a month.

Ive been on the ring for over a year. I have really liked it so far.
Though after reading this and thinking back, Ive had a few UTI this past year. I didnt think to connect it to the ring. Ive gone up a cup size..... im not so happy about this as finding a ddd is a difficult and frustrating task. I have gained over twenty pounds and i eat normally and exercise daily. Nothing i do helps me loose weight. my sister has recently started using the ring she to has gained about twenty pounds. its all in the tummy. i feel really oddly proportioned right now. anyways. Its a pain to deal with while you are still on your period. tampons ring = doom. I always take it as i should. give or take a bit taking it out and putting it back in. its not always at the same time. depends on my work schedule when i wake up. anyways im used to the lighter periods and the heavier ones. last month i spotted for two days if that and that was it. it seemed a bit out of order. so i waited a few weeks and took a home test out of paranoia it was negative as i expected. since im on the ring and all. SO i was supposed to get my period yesterday. sometimes its a day late and usually it shows up in the morning. nothing yet. so NOW im paranoid. i guess if nothing shows up tomorrow ill go grab a test. anyways my legs and arms seem to fall asleep ALOT as they didnt before. i can sit in a chair stand up and be like wow i cant feel my legs.... im sure thats good im starting to think my circulation has gone to crap. Im a heavy smoker and i know one is not supposed to smoke while on the ring it makes the risk of side effects higher. ok so after reading the ring is less effective over 180. thats nice. i was 160 when i started taking the ring now my weight fluctuates between 180-190 its different everytime i weigh myself. being this heavy is a recent development. it seems as im slowly but surely gaining weight. Im fairly active i walk and ride my bike everyday. as that is my mode of transportation. my sex drive is lower than what is was before i was on the ring.my boyfriend mentions that im alot tighter and dryer that i used to be. i thought it just maybe that im slightly allergic to latex.using condoms generally made me swell up.So i kinda figured that was the reason behind that. i took the pill before but i always forgot to take it and would have my period more often than not. I would say ive been alot more depressed since ive been on the ring. my friends dont believe me when i say its the ring. they all say the ring isnt like that it dont effect your emotions they way other birth control does. pfft. wow i wrote alot XD thats been my experience so far. heres to hopeing i get my period soon! Im in college i dont have time or the finances to have children.

Pregnant on Nuvaring
The girl I am seeing was on Nuvaring, and after only dating for a month she said she was 4 days late. She got tested, and sure enough, she's pregnant! I'm a little suspicious! I never felt the ring during sex or with my fingers during forplay. Shouldn't I have? And through the grapevine, I heard she was taking tests like every other day. I pray that she didn't get pregnant intentionally, but if she did, I refuse to be with her! I will still be a father to the child, of course. How can I know for sure? What shouldI do?!

To tmw76, I would ask her about the rumours. It might be a sensitive subject to bring up, but you should definitely get the conversation over with and be honest. I know of quite a few women around me that have legitimately gotten pregnant while on Nuvaring, so it is a very real possibility. For the short time that I was on Nuvaring my husband never actually felt the ring during intercourse, although Im sure if he would have used his fingers for foreplay he likely would have. It may be possible that she took it out during sex, as some women do that to avoid it making sex uncomfortable. I would just ask, its best to get it out in the open than holding it in and habouring resentment towards her when it very well may have been an accident.

About to start - scared bc of horrible experiences with pills
I just went to see my doctor today and she suggested I try the ring. I started Loestrin 24 Fe when I was 18, had horrible depression, stopped and switched to Yaz when I was 19, had horrible depression, and now I'm 20. I'm with the same guy who is super supportive and was there for me when I was going through the emotional problems, so he knows what happened and knows how to tell if there's something not right. I like the protection against pregnancy and the increased spontaneity that birth control affords but I'm really scared of going through that depression again. I feel like on this forum a slight majority of people like the ring, but I wanted to ask for replies from people who have had the same experience that I did on the pill. I noticed a change in my moods and personality when I stopped the pill, so it definitely had an effect even though I'm always stressed and hard on myself to begin with. I also noticed that people have said once the ring is removed the bad things tend to go away pretty quickly, which is mildly reassuring. Thanks for any replies or insight.

personal experience with nuvaring
I am 21 years old, I've been using the Nuvaring for 4 months now. I hated it at first because I thought about it and was convincing myself that I could feel it. But After the first few weeks I didn't notice it. Now I actually have to check for it because I want to be sure it isnt missing. Ive only had one or two uncomfortable occasions where it dislodged during sex, but those were on more vigorous occasions. My fiance doesnt notice it and says he has never felt it. I have actually taken it out before and he never noticed (it can be out for up to 3 hours without interfering with its effectiveness. I wont ever go back to another form of contraception. If you are healthy, young, and a non smoker without any history of heart problems, stroke or clotting disorders I would recommend giving it a month or two of a fair chance.

Body Rash and depression
I have gotten a horrible rash all over my torso, back and hips. It started when I started the Nuva Ring, three weeks ago. The rash showed up right away and has just gotten worse. It is insanely itchy and looks very unattractive. I hate it. I think it is an allergic reaction to the ring, however my Doctor seems clueless. Also, I have noticed that I am much less excited about my life. Everything I used to be way into just seems a lot more dull and I am losing interest in the things I used to love. The pill is a nightmare for me so I was excited to try the ring, but I think I am allergic to it. I don't know what to do, both my partner and I have been tested and are free of any STI's so it would be really nice to not have to use a condom!

Frustrated.

Nuvaring is great.
Ive been on the nuvaring for a little under a month, but Ive had no problems with it at all. Its great. I was on the pill, but switched to depo. Then I gained 35 pounds. Thats why I decided to try the nuvaring. I think I am going to stick to it. Neither my boyfriend or I can feel it during sex. If this is a problem for anyone, you are able to take it out for up to three hours. I hope this helps anyone who is considering it. I would recommend this to anyone.

"recommendations"
I'd be cautious recommending something to anyone when you have only been on it less than a month!... Besides, everyone is different. It's good to share one's own experience, as experiences vary to greatly. This site helped be because I was able to see how the ring affected others and see if what was happening to me had ever happened to anyone else, and low and behold- it had! So my suspicions that it was the ring causing me such problems was supported. Thanks to all you ladies for sharing your experience! It's empowering to share info with each other.

love it
I have been on the nuva ring for 5 1/2 years. I love it! At first it took a while for my body to get used to it. My doctor said to use extra protection the first month to make sure we would not get pregnant so those of u that complained about the first month...GET OVER IT. it's birth control. we all have hear horror stories about people getting prego on this, or that but when it comes down to it, if you use it correctly and you aren't a statistic, it will work for you. I just got off of it 5 days agos b/c we want to get prego. I hope it doesnt take long for me to get it out our system! Good luck!

My experience with Nuvaring
My doctor suggested it to me after I decided no bc pills and asked for an iud. She said first try nuvaring b/c there are all kinds of other risks associated with a copper iud. Anyway i had it in for 5 days and took it out. I personaly hated it.
Why? It made me feel bloated, made me breakout in zits (i normally have clear skin), made me super hungry (i felt like i had to eat 2x as much as normal), it made me moody/grumpy/health forum, it gave me uncomfortable cramps and kind of itchy feeling inside if u know what i mean. Last but not least it gave me more discharge than normal.
To the point; i did not like it. I hope you all have a better experience with it.

Nuva Ring
I have been on the ring for two and a half years now and I have had little to no problems with it. I find that it is way easier then the pill and it doesn't have as many hormones as the patch which I used previous to the ring.
The only problem now is that for the first time, I am having break through bleeding. I have been to the Doctor to rule out pregnancy and all other problem and the verdict was that maybe this is just a random hormonal issue and it will resolve itself or that I potentially need a higher hormone dose now (she detailed no reason why I would need this now)
So, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the ring. Especially after using it for years without having an issue.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Aside from my recent problem however, I thing the ring is a great option for birth control. For those of you who's parter can feel it during sex, try experimenting with inserting it differently, If you can place is behind the pubic bone or behind the cervics I find that the ability for my partner as well and me to feel it is greatly reduced. Remember the ring can only be left out for three hours at a time... so if you do take it out place it somewhere where you will remember to re-insert it.

Lacerations
This is my second month using NuvaRing, this is the 27th day when I'm supposed to take the ring out. I just did it and I feel so disoriented because when I pulled it out I felt this bad pain inside my uterus and there was a bloody little piece of tissue stuck to the ring (the side that is closer to the uterus).
I've had a discharge for about a week and a half but I thought it was normal because my body was adapting to it. The funny thing is that I would bleed a little bit specially after intercourse. Is it because of my man's penis size and the action? I'm going to the Dr this weekend; I got terrified when I saw the little pieces of meat (?), tissue inside of me coming out as part of the ring. Advice please?

i think im pregnant and i have been using the ring!!
I have two children so i know what early pregnancy feels like....the same way i do now. I have been using the ring for about 2 years now and have been following directions to the t. i had a "questionable" period about a week and a half ago. Since then i have had waves of nausea every day, light headedness, sore breasts and back pain. It is probably too early for a home test so i am waiting to see if my period comes. BTW did not put a new one in "just in case!! i am terrified.

Before i started the nuva ring myself i read over some of the comments people have posted about it and was scared to use it. I have been using it for a couple months so far and have been very happy with it. I dont feel the ring, its not at all uncomfortable. Its as easy as inserting a tampon, and my boyfriend said he somtimes feels it during sex but its not a big deal.

Great experience!!
I have been using the ring for almost 3 years and I LOVE IT!! I actually lost 15 lbs when I first started on it (like in the first 3 moinths) now I have gained weight, but I also don't eat healthy and don't work out so I don't blame that on the ring.

As far as the periods go, I have had some REALLY light, kinda scary, periods but the next month always seems to be heavier. My man has never said he could feel it and he is well endowed so he would be. I think that is psycological!

It's really easy, and I've never had any problem. I haven't even had a UTI since I've been on it either. I would totally recomend it to anyone.

NuvaRing
I have been using the NuvaRing for about two and a half months now, as I read all the negative comments on this forum I am wondering if I should discontinuing using the NuvaRing and reconsider returning back onto the pill (Marvelon 21). I have had fewer side effects on the pill then I have had during my use of the NuvaRing, my current symptoms are mild headaches, anxiety, high blood pressure, weight gain and no improvement on my skin complexion. During intercourse I find the NuvaRing is a bit irritating and tends to get in the way of full sensation, I find myself wondering if the NuvaRing has fallen out or has simply been pushed too far in, therefore sex is not as exciting with my partner. I have tried taking out the NuvaRing during intercourse but I am always concerned that I may forget to place it back inside myself in the end. Just the other day I found the NuvaRing had made its way down to the vagina where it was nearly coming out by itself. It's frustrating having to reposition the NuvaRing so that it is back in place and won't fall out again. I read up on other types of birth control such as Yaz, Depo-Provera, Tri-Cyclen, Ortho-Cyclen, etc and all have bad side affects which I would not recommend to anyone. Marvelon 21 has benefited me such as clear skin, no weight gain and very minor headaches which I recommend taking Motrin Extra Strength to relieve the pain but everyone is different. Other than that I would recommend whoever would like to start taking birth control to contact your physician and see what is best for you. I was 13 years old when I started taking birth control to regulate my menstrual cycle and although I have troubles remembering to take the pill, once I experienced using the NuvaRing I think I might think twice about setting a reminder on my cell phone to take the pill. Hope this information was helpful. Smile
