Q: Loss of All Smell

I am a 40 year old male who has just recovered from severe fungal meningitus. I was hospitalized for nearly two months. I had severe brain
pressures and required large doses of morphine. I am now in near full
recovery. I have since lost all my sense of smell, but not taste. My question is how did this happen and will I ever recover this lost sense?
I found that in a couple of instances I couldn't smell fire or smoke, food,
cooking and the finer things in life. Frustrated but happy to be alive. Dom
