I stopped taking my ortho tryicyclen lo about two months ago because my rx ran out and I couldn't get into the doc for a few months. I got my period the first month as scheduled but now it is the second month and I haven't gotten it yet. My fiance and I have fooled around but he never had his penis inside of me and he did not ejaculate. Could I be pregnant or is this a result of stopping the pill? :(

Stoping the Pill
I was on ortho lo as well, same situation, my rx ran out and I was unemployed so no insurence. The first month I was off my period came normally, now the 2nd month I am 6 days late. We had unprotected sex a few times in early to mid may. I took a test about 3 days ago and it came back negative. I bought another test but dont know when to take it. I have been getting cramps today and am thinking to wait until tomorrow to take the test- I have been sleepy, naseous, and have this weird fluttering feeling in my stomach- am I prego or is this from coming off the pill??

Birth Control Pills
After taking birth control pills myself, it can take a few years to get your cycle back to normal. You will probably notice more cramping and longer durations between cycles. Also, your period my last only a day or two after discontinuing the pill. You will be better in the long run, the pill has many nasty side effects.

Birth Controll Pills
I went 4 months without a cycle... My obgyn did a bunch of tests and found nothing... So we waited and then one morning... That familiar pain and then I started.... Just give it time. My Dr. Said it can take some women up to a year to regulate.

Good luck

Same Issue
I have had the same issue of missing my period after discontinuing birth control. I however, have also experienced weight gain. I have been feeling bloated and was not sure if this would go away once I finally get my period (its been two months) or if this is permanent?

My gyn told me that if you do not have a cycle for 3 months you need to go in to see if nothing is wrong. They will do some blood work to see if
a) pregnant or not
b) test your thyroid
c) check prolactin levels
d) check pituitary gland (controls your estrogen and progesten)

if all these come back fine they may put you on somethig called provera (sounds familiar right not depo though) this will reset your system and force you to have a period. If that works then you should be on your way to regulating... I am finaly gettting there.. Almost regluar now. Only about 5 days off each time. Hopefuly now my husband and I can start trying to have a family.

Good luck.
