Painful Noise Heard In Ears
Posted: 05-21-05 20:31pm

I'm not sure what this would be classified (if anything,) but about 4 months ago I started experiencing dreams in which a loud painful noise would occur in my ears, followed by my head and sometimes my entire body shaking. I cannot wake myself up during this time and I believe I am in a deep sleep while this happens. I normally have very realistic dreams during this, ones in which I believe I am actually awake! I can only recall one nightmare where I woke up frightened. I have this painful dream or experience at least once a week, I always wake up fine, most of the time feeling like I was just in the longest, deepest sleep of my life. Like I said, i'm never terrified during these dreams, i'm fully aware ofthe pain and basically just anticipate waking up! Ugh! I hope someone on here can help me! Its very unpredictable, it has happened during sleep at night, afternoon naps, or after waking up in the morning, then falling back asleep. I consider myself healthy, I exercise and eat healthy foods, I am on no medication, and may have one cup of coffee occasionaly in the mornings. Thank you in advance

howdy :d ,
is the loud painful noise anything like a shotgun bang, that hurts the brain and ears at the same time?
I dont know if its the same as me but I too get a horrid noise...I'm not shure if I hear it in my ears or not because of the bang noise filling the inside of my head...(you know when singers pulg there ears up so they can hear their own voice better) like that.

My entire body also shakes like mad after also, I have to get people around me put a cushion under my head because its just shakes so much it hurts my neck.

I have these at normal times of the day, although I do get it just before I go to bed at night too.

I thought it was part of my cataplexy.......But my quack thinks it's something els.

Can you relate to this at all?
over & out caddets.....Salut!

Strong Noise During Sleep
Posted: 10-26-05 09:43am

Hi! I've been having a similar disorder during sleep.
I open my eyes while sleeping, but I can't move (i know this part is very common), but also I hear this strong noise in my head like a loud pitch that vibrates and makes my hole body shake ,not violently or jerky, but I feel it even in my teeth. During this episodes I can see everything around me, although I have alucinations, and even though I now i´m dreaming, I become really scared with no cause. This happens to me once every two weeks more or less. I haven't found any article about this, but it appears that basically is a state of dream in which you are not totally awake but neither asleep, which is as I said, pretty common. I haven't found an explanation to the noise or the shaking but it's all probably part of the same thing. I´ve been practicing and now I can move while this happens, as soon as I do it and get off bed it all stops.

Sleep paralysis

thats what i've come up with.

I've had sleep paralysis for about two years now (even though iv'e only recently found out what it is) and there are ways to help.

-my symptoms
a. "roaring" in ears
b. Can't move/ entire body is shaking
c. Vivid dreams;can anticipate waking up
d. Happens just before I go to sleep
e. Intense fear
f. Hard to breathe
g can't call for help (jaw too clenched?)

- when having an attack:
i know it's scary, but first concentrate on breathing slow and steady. Then, to "wake up" start with moving the little things( toes, eyelids, fingers, ect) then you should gradually get control back. When you wake up, don't go back to sleep in the same position you were in (especially not on your back)

-prevention:
a. Try to relax more in general; this disorder is known to be made worse by stress.
B. Don't switch up your sleep patterns
c. Try raising the head of your bed 6 inches with wooden blocks. It doesnt help prevent, but for some reason it helps you "wake up" easier; you can have more control over your body.
D. Do not nap during the day
e. Go to bed early

* about 1/4 of the population will expirience one attack in their lifetime...I have it about 3 times a month. Having it every night is not ok. I would suggest (just my opinion) talking to a doctor, there is medicine to be perscribed for extreme cases (at least once a week)

- let me know if this works out for you. Good luck

sweet dreams,
ally.
