I have recently been diagnosed with genital herpes. Since I have been diagnosed they have never completely gone dormant. I have been on 2 rounds of Valtrex (which I hate taking b/c it makes me feel bad) and I don't have insurance right now. I have been going through some very stressful times, i.e. getting divorced, job instability, finances, etc. The break outs I have are not bad and really are not that uncomfortable. I'm hoping that when some of this stress reduces maybe that will help but I was worried that I might be causing damage by letting it go untreated. Can it cause any kind of damage and can it cause problems down the road with infertility?

I think your best bet is to talk to your doctor and I know there are other options as far as medication, but you will find that as soon as the stress level goes down so will the outbreaks! Just take some time to relax, get lots of sleep, and watch your diet! Wink hope it helps!

Trust me, get plenty of rest and find a way to get that stress level down. The out-breaks will become less and less frequent all the time. Untreated outbreaks shouldnt cause permanent problems, they just take a little longer to clear up. Wash your hands frequently and keep them away from your eyes as the virus can be transmitted to the eye. It's not fun but it is a very minor issue in the big scheme of life. Be upfront with anyone before you are intimate, you'll be shocked at how well most people deal with it if they really care. Best of luck from one that knows it very well!

Sounds like you f'd up tard. Best thing is to just come clean and tell the truth if your care about your husband, 'cause he's gonna find out eventually - one way or the other.

Tard, I was wondering what kind of side effects you experienced while taking valtrex?
