Q: 3 Year of Don With Swollen Lymph Nodes In the Side of Neck

I took my son to the Dr. Yesterday for two lumps in his neck. They are not along the jaw line or coller bone. They are approx. 1.5" in size, which is only noticible when he leans his head on his shoulder. I noticed it a few weeks ago. He complains of headaches, has night sweats but then is freezing within 5 minutes. His appetite has gone down the tubes the past month. They ran blood samples yesterday and I won't receive them until tomorrow. These lumps are halfway between the side of the neck and the back of the neck. Directly in the middle. Has anyone heard of this and what can I expect?

Thanks
jennifer

Hi , I have read up on your email that you have sent , and it could be that your son has hyperthyroidism - over production of thyroid hormone (please dont quote me on it , I am not a doctor!!) this regulates many aspects of our metabolism eventually affecting how many calories we burn , how warm we feel , and how much we weigh. Common symptons are ; palpitations, heat intolerance , nervousness , insomnia , breathlessness, increased bowel movements , fatigue, fast heart rate, trembling hands, weight loss , muscle weakness , warm moist skin , hair loss, staring gaze, signs & symptons have different medical meaning , symptons are problems that a patient notices or feels and signs are those that a physician can objectively detect or measure. Please let me know how he gets on , I am sure it isnt this. I thought I would try and help in some way , as I know how parents worry.

lymph node
I also noticed that my three year old had two swollen moth ball sized 0n both sides of his neck. He has been on antibiotics three times. I noticed them in December when I was feeling around his neck. The doctor gave him antibiotics for ten days. It decreased in size by a small amount. The doctor decided to give him more antibiotics at a stronger doze for ten days. It did not make much of a difference. So they gave him a third kind of antibiotics for another ten days. The doctor recommended to see a specialist. They said if with this third antibiotic it does not go away then it needs to be removed. I am really concerned because my son is only three. There has to be another option. It's nice to know that I am not alone.

Lymph Node
My three year old son was diagnosed with Lymph Node. They said that it is abstractin his breathing. If the antibiotics don't work they may have to remove them. Can anyone tell me more about this procedure and how it will effect him after it is removed?
