Q: Combination Birth Control Pill And Delayed Menopause?

A combination birth control pill stops ovulation. Menopause is when you stop producing eggs- so logically when you are on the pill it stores these eggs. Would this delay menopause later in life? This question has my boyfriend and me completely boggled. Does anyone know?

I have absolutely no idea, because I'm not a doctor--but I will share my mom's story with you.

She was on high doses of birth control pills for about 2 yrs before conceiving. She had two kids. When she was 31 or 32 (?) she started menopause, which is very early I think for most women.

I would like to know the answer to this too!

Menopause is when your ovaries stop making estrogen and progesterone.

Birth control pills do not affect the onset of menopause, but it can hide it since you would get enough of both hormones from the pills.
