Hey everyone, I am new here. I am 24 years old and weigh about 165 pounds and I am only 5'4. I want to lose about 30 pounds to be back to my normal self again, the way I was before I got engaged. Unfortunately I have a problem with my energy levels because they are very low, which prohibits me from exercising and doing any other physical activity. I also lack the motivation. I want to lose weight but I have no one pushing me to do it, or encouraging me to do it. I try to exercise and eat healthy but it doesn't give me the quick results that I want. I read somewhere that if I cut down my calorie intake by 500 a day then I could lose a pound a week. But at that rate it will take me forever to lose 30 pounds. Does anyone have any suggestions to mainly help with my energy levels and to help me lose weight? :?:
Ok well i'm not too sure about the engry levels although I think if you eat the right foods and have a fairly healthy lifestyle your engry should not be a problem.
Now onto the losing weight. Its fine to lose weight but I can tell you from past experince that by cutting down on calories your body will store even more fat and you will not lose weight at all in fact there is a great possibabitly that you would gain weight.
Think of this ok, just for a minute, you know the magazines that tell you about all of these great diets that help you lose weight and look great well they are not true at all, no one really loses the weight and if they do they put it back in withing a few months. If magazines where to promote diets that actually worked then they would be out of business because everyone would have lost weight and there would be no need for anyone to read those mags anymore. So never read things like that which tell you to cut down on your calorie intake because it won't work.
I know this might be hard to believe but if you eat healthy amounts of food in small portions 6 times a day and you do a little exercise then you will begin to lose weight. This works because if you start to cut down on calories and your food intake your body thinks that there is a famine and so it stores all the fat it needs to stay alive because it does not know when it will be feed again but if you eat regularly and in small amounts your metabolism speeds up, burns the calories quicker and helps you lose weight faster but healthier as well.
I don't know if you knew this but the people who are most overweight tend to eat less then those who are at a normal weight because of the reason I just explained. There bodies hold onto more of the fat because they eat less and so the calories aren't burnt and the fat stays where it is.
I hope you reach your goal but also remember that weight cannot control your happiness, you control your own happiness.
Good luck and I hope I helped a little.
Thank you, you did help. I actually did not know that I should eat 6 meals a day and that is better than only eating 3 meals a day. What exactly should I be eating? I always thought by eating less it will help me lose weight, but I guess I was wrong and maybe that is why I am not losing weight. I do exercise a bit and I tried and am still trying to eat healthy, but I guess I just need to increase my meals per day. What kind of exercise should I be doing? Is lifting better than cardio or is it the other way around, or should I just do both?
