It's Gonna Be Okay
Girl that is just one little thing in life. I know exactly how you feel. I felt so violated when I got my first one. Just think the doctor I had was a man and he was scary looking. But I just hung in there and got it done. It only takes but a minute and you are done. Trust me it seems like it will be forever but it is only like two minutes. Just try to relax and before you know it, it is over. It doesn't hurt for most people especially if your not a virgin. It just feels like there is a little pressure. Don't stress. 8)

Extremely eHealthy
Do not worry, the Dr. Has seen hundreds and possibly thousands of them, just do not douche or have sex rhe night before, no one that I know of thoroughly enjoys this as the poster replied , that you will be o.K. And that it will go by fast and, make sure you breathe. Make sure you do not cancel unless you are on your period and try your berst to be possitive. I know you can do this!
Good luck
sincerely,
sandy

I Hear Your Pain
First thing that you have to take into account is if you would prefere a woman or a man as your doctor. I personally prefer men because they are much more gentle on your goods. If this isn't your type of thing, then opt for the woman.

If you go in there and meet your doctor and don't feel at leat 90% comfortable with the doctor tell them, and look for a new one.

Basically the whole procedure takes less than three minutes and really isn't as invasive as you would think, the only time that they actually touch you with their finger is during the later part of the procedure when they gently press from both the inside of your vagina and your lower abdomen.

The pap test is the least of your worries, coming back with an abnormal screening (which you might, considering that even though you slept with only one guy hpv-human pavoloma virus- is prevelent in over 80% of americans) from there it could lead to cryosurgury. :(

Youd think after 2 kids a pap smear would be nothing, but I still hate them and im 35 I have a lady doctor,i figure she knows what its like she has to have them too,but shes nice and I feel comfotable with her it took me a while to find a good doctor, but yes you have to have them once your sexally active just try to get a doctor you feel comfortable with.

Eh. They gyno doesn't bother me one bit. It takes less than 10 minutes for the exam. The longest part is waiting for him (or her) to come to the room! Well, in my experience...

Anyway, if you have a male doctor, there will be a female nurse in the room with you. I have had both male and female doctors and to be honest, I cannot find a difference. I requested a female this last time and wound up with a male. Oh well.

Tests are important, even if you've only slept with one guy. When I was 24 I had an abnormal pap and had to have biopsies done. Then, it was confirmed that I had dysplasia level iii - severe (level 4 is cancer). I had day surgery where they removed the infected tissue from my cervix. I had to return every 6 months until my tests were normal for 2 years... So, I guess I got used to it.

But now I make sure I go and I feel so much better afterwards! Asking for birth control should be the least of your worries.
