More Bc Questions (see "when Should I Start Birth Contr Posted: 11-09-03 17:04pm
Hello everyone! In my quest to find a
good birth control method before I get
married in 7 months i've found a lot of
things to consider. I'm in my early 20s
and in good health. We don't plan on
having children for a few years. I have
researched some bc pills, as well as the
shot, the patch, and the ring. (sounds
like a really bad movie trilogy, eh?) i've
heard bad things about the patch, so i'm
leaning away from that. I'd like to take
the pill because I have heavy, painful
periods and i'd just love to regulate
them. But i've had problems with
depression in the past and i'm nervous
that the hormones in some pills may give
me problems again. Any thoughts? What
about iuds? I read about them on a birth
control website and almost fainted just
from reading about the insertion
procedure! But really....Would that be at
all ideal for me? Another question: why
were contraceptive sponges taken off the
market in the us? I know you can still
get them in canada. Are they very
reliable? Or should I stay away from that
idea too? Actually i'm looking for input
on any form of reversible birth control.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok the pill would be the best method for
you. Youd have to ask your doc about it
interferring with your other hormones and
medication and stuff or it would
interferre with your previous problems.So
the iud. Ive discussed this with my doc
and my friend who is studying to be a med
assistant. The iud is an insertion that
will only be given to you if you have
already had a baby. Due to the fact that
it can scratch in the inside and possibly
give you an infection. The shot can be
ok, there might be some weight gain due to
the fact that you dont get a period. The
patch was an ok method and there has been
good reviews and some bad ones. I have
been on it and have not gotten pregnant.
But I dont like the nausea and headaches
so I got off of it. The pill is good, but
you need to keep on top of it and remember
to take them everyday to not screw up your
cycle. So if you can remember very good
to take it everyday then youd be fine. Im
not sure on the reversable birth control
though. You should make ann appointment
with your doc and find out which method
would be best. Good luck!
