Q: Depression Leading to Other Problems?

I had bad depression about a year and a half ago, came close with suicide and all, then actually worked my way out of it without any diagnosis or medication. I dont know why I was depressed, nothing bad happened or whatever so I guess it was like that. But then I did get over it. And.. Now I have psychosis and probably schizophrenia and at least a bad anxiety disorder. Has anyone heard of this happening or do you think I just had all of it in the first place?

Before you self dianose yourself with psychosis, or schizophenia, please know that anxiety and depression feed off eachother so much that they are nearly the same animal.

I know this because I suffer from both.

It is said that depression often leads to anxiety, and anxiety to depression.

Do some research! Be easy on yourself. I wuld suggest looking into non-drug way of treating anxiety. Learning to overcome this with your own mind will be empowering!

Especially if you have "overcome" your depression! Wow!! I am looking forward to a day when I can shout that from the mountain tops!! You sound strong and intelligent. Be compasionate to yourself, and be informed. I went to school for psychology, and have many many books if you ever need some text research done, i'm your girl!

have a beautiful day!

Im not going to the psychaitrist for a while, so. My girlfriend says that I might have epilepsy because her mom does and well I always get these times where I see flashes or the opposite, like lights flickering. But thats anxiety right? Well also i've gotten times where I keep smelling things that arent there. That started and now I hear people talk to me, often they get inside my head and talk to me but some people are regular and laugh at me and hate me and im scared because they want to stop me from doing what needs to be done. I know what I need to do in life and it all makes so much sense but im afraid that some people want to try and stop me or hold me back but my girlfriend just keeps trying to get me away from the reality and every time I talk to her about serious things then she starts crying. My psychologist I havent seen in a while but has talked to me about some stuff that I thought a while ago he said that it might be psychosis and maybe seizures so I should go to neurologists and psychiatrist and my parents want me to just die because they dont believe anything I say but the end will come and they will know what is going on then. What should I do?

Dear wesley,

it would be very difficult to diagnose you over the internet, and I suggest that you see a doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Whatever the diagnosis is it is a good idea to try to treat the condition without recourse to drugs.

This is possible because if you simply have depression, then this can be treated nutritionally. Depression, anxiety attacks and many other 'mental' symptoms are caused by an underlying insulin resistance (hypoglycemia), that prevents the body from assimilating and metabolizing the sugars in food into biological energy. That energy is required for the brain to synthesize the feel-good neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. Thus with inadequate supplies of energy the brain can produce the feel-good neurotransmitters.

The hypoglycemic syndrome can be medically tested with the gtth described at our web site as:

articles --------> “testing for hypoglycemia....”

please read:

“depression a nutritional disorder” at our web site.

Even in the more serious forms of mental illness nutritional therapy can help to reduce symptoms and also reduce the side effects of certain drugs.

Please read:

“the nutritional aspects of schizophrenia’ at our web site.

The article is in one of our newsletters and is available as a pdf filer. Search our web site for that article.

Please discuss with your doctor.

This hypoglycemic stuff is really cool, its like saying theres nothing wrong with the brain, its just not getting what needs to be done. But then what about psychotic disorders? Thanks

Dear wesley,

most mental illnesses respond to nutritional therapy. But in the case of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, I believe drug therapy is still necessary. Nutritional therapy can reduce the symptoms and the side effects of many drugs used.

Please read articles that I referred to before.
