pain on the left side under my rib cage and tingling in hands
I read some where that someone who had a similar problem with the tingling said they were not that not getting enough magnesium, so they tried taking he supplement CALMAG. They had said it is supposed to help your nervous system, and the reported that there tingling episodes had almost completly gone away. So I have been taking this CALMAG for three weeks now and the tingling episodes have subsided greatly, also the pain on the left side under my rib cage has lessened. I am going to continue taking it and I will post my if my condition changes further in about a month. I hope this helps someone.

Tai Chi may be one of the solution. I have the same symptom plus minor chest and inguinal pain for about year and a half with stresses of all kinds over 20 years. However since I went back to practice Tai Chi plus treadmill for 15 minutes now five days a week all the pains go away. I have been an active person with many responsibilities before I got the pain. Now I just concentrate on the Tai Chi practice and treadmill with veggie and fruit on my diet, and it is working. I often do not have the pains for days if I keep doing that but I have to remind myself to go to bed early like at about 10 pm. I also have done many tests like others but no answer to the cause of the pain yet. I am still in the process of finding out the casue of it. So far I am looking at lymphatic system to see whether it is relating to the pain.
So, I too am posting on the pain in my left side up under my ribs which kind of radiates to my back. It feels like a knot in a muscle but more internal. Right where it looks like the spleen fits. If I try to rub it it hurts more. It ESPECIALLY hurts when I exercise, which seems to be the opposite of everyone else here. I feel it like a painful bulge when I do situps or punches.. I've had a constant dull feeling of the pain for the last couple months, now.
But I've felt this pain before in the same place but in the form of a sharp stabbing pain that hurt when I breathed in. That pain has come and gone throughout my life. It began with an episode as a child when my parents found me on the floor saying it hurts to breathe in. In the er they found nothing. Xray was fine. And then suddenly, i felt fine too. This stabbing pain has occurred many times more, throughout highschool and would last only a couple minutes to a couple hours. I just learned to deal with it. I thought it would hurt if I laughed wrong or bended funny, but really sometimes it was random. After college I forgot about it until one day it reared it's ugly head and didn't go away for two days. I went to immediate care and they gave me a shot of something green and said it would numb my insides, and then it went away!! Although I forgot what the green stuff was and they didn't give me a follow up plan...but then I felt better anyway and forgot about it.
But now it feels like the same pain (same area) as my old pain, only it's a dull pressure like a knot in your muscle pain, but it won't go away. It's not really alarming to me, but I did go to the doctor. They gave me anxiety pills. While those were nice I wasn't convinced it was just stress because I had a specific pain. I went to another dr. And he found I had a bladder infection. Who knows how long I had it?! I had no urinary tract pain, he said some people are weird like me and don't notice, so I went on ceptra for a week. It cleared up.Then I was feeling lightheaded and he said my B12 levels were low and started giving me injections ofB12. I asked him if it could be my kidneys and he said I'd be in the hospital if it were with back pain and a fever. Got the back pain, but no fever. Just a dull achy knot under my ribs I can feel when I breath deeply. Should I worry, or just live until I die?
I have had pretty much the same symptoms as you. I have had stomach pain on and off all of my life. Spent 3 days in the hospital when I was a kid for a pain they couldn't figure out. I have now had near constant pain or discomfort in my side for the last 3 years.
It's like I have a knot in my left side. It definitely hurts more when I exercise. Actually the only way to dull the pain now is to not move for a few hours. It also helps if I put my fist in my side and push on it for a while...I can definitely tell when I have done too much moving around in a day. Really wreaks havoc on an exercise routine.
I had doctors run all of the tests they could think of when the pain intially started and they all came back normal. All they could find was a slight elevation in my white blood cell count so they figured there must be something wrong with me, but had no idea what. I finally got so sick of being told that they couldn't figure it out, I stopped going to doctors.
I have lived with it now for 3 years as I said. It got alot worse when I got pregnant with my last child. The pain stretched across my stomach as my stomach grew. Then it shrunk back to my left side after I had my baby. Weird. I have my bad days and my good days. I've noticed foods don't seem to have any effect on it (I tried cutting out different foods for a month at a time, nothing worked). Stress and physical labor are the only things that seem to make it worse. Haven't tried any vitamins or long term medications(not that I would).
So in short, unless your symtoms change noticeably or unless you are way smarter than me and can figure it out, just live until you die...or until doctors develop a better understanding of the stomach...good luck!
Hi there i have pain under the 11th and 12th rib on left side that goes around to the spine can be a dull pain sometimes, other times it throbs like a heart beat, feels like a golf ball stuck under the ribs, had this pain for about 4 years now. Had ultrasound, bone scan, numerous blood tests, tested for ulcer, 2 cat scans, xrays of rib cage, colonoscopy and gastroscopy found nothing. Went and had a EMG and doctor wants to do a MRI to because he things it's nerve damage or nerve problem in that area hope he's right. Also got a second opinion from another neurologist and she reckons the throbbing like a heart beat and the pain going around to the spine is a symptom of nerve damage she wants to do a localised injection in this area which will numb the nerve. Will post another reply when i find out wants going on, hope this is helpful for you. Pain is worse when sitting and laying down but when moving around or doing some work it doesn't really bother me that much.
dull pain on the left side under the ribs when deep breathing
Hello to all those in the same boat...I started noticing a dull ache when I took deep breaths. It would come and go but I couldnt lay on my right side without the pain showing up with deep breaths. I dont have any insurance and kind of a fraid to go to the doctor. I recently had a bad cold and really bad cough that on two occasions seemed to make some of my intestine bulge out from the front of my stomach which caused really bad pain for a few minutes but then went away. No changes in stool, no increase of gas, no real other symptoms except the dull ache and feeling that something is there when I take deep breaths. I have read and read all the other answers on here and other sites and some of the consistent replies seem to be these: nothing that can be diagnosed with certainty, no mention of Cancer, long lasting and wide spread...in one regard thats a good thing, but on the other hand we still have to suffer or at the very least be annoyed with this thing that doesnt seem to ever completely go away.
I feel for all of you. I'm 29 year old male. I first noticed the dull deep pain under my left rib cage about two weeks ago. The best I can describe it is like getting hit in your ribs and then being sore after. I feel like it affects my breathing but could be mental thing. This started afer I experienced pain in my chest and my throat was swollen so I ate very little I lost over 30 lbs in a matter of 3-5 weeks. I was diagnosed with Esophagal inflammation due to Acid Reflux.I had an endoscopy and the doctor put me on 2 60mg of Dexilant every day as well as a very restrictive diet ( small meals, no spicy and soft food). I've been able to eat better as my throat has cleared up some, but now its this pain in my left side that doesn't go away all day. I used to take fiber every day and exercise at least 3 days a week and I guess I have to get back to that. If it helps I'll post.

I'm 15 years old and I also experience pain . It feels as though my ribs are twisting together and I can't breath . I went and saw my doctor a few years back about this problem but he said that he couldn't find anything wrong . When the pain comes it feels as though my lungs are twisting along with my ribs . All I can do when the pain comes is drink water and have my mom rub against my ribs , makes me feel a whole lot better . It's a scary feeling , not being able to breath when you wanna .
I had pain right under and a little below the left rib cage, and sometimes I felt a palpable mass. I would press on it for about a half an hour, and it would go down. This went on for about four years, and the pains would get worse at times, and at others I would be fine. Then, the fourth year, I began to have horrible back pain, to the point of barely walking. I went to the doctor nearly fourty times, and they dismissed me as crazy. Every test imaginable came out normal. One day, I began to have blood in my urine. The Dr. said I had a UTI and gave me antibiotics. I am a nurse, and was very compliant with my medication. I continued to have blood in my urine, and tree days after I finished the medication, I went back complaining of sharp shooting pains and blood in the urine. I went through three antibiotics back to back, even though my urine was clear after the first round. I was so discouraged, and the Doctors thought I was crazy and seeking pain meds which was NOT the case-I rarely even take tylenol etc. for pain. Well, one morning, I woke up, and was unable to urinate. The only thing that came out was a stream of blood. I looked down with a mirror and saw a large red bump sticking out of my vagina. I went to my doctor and made the nurse practitioner look. Immediately, she said I had a prolapsed ureterecele and I was rushed to the Emergency room for emergency surgery. The "prolapsed ureterecele" had been causing my kidney to become enlarged, bc it drained into the bladder very slowly. The surgeon said this is usually caught at three months of age, but somehow my body had adapted to it. I had never gotten so many apologies from anyone, as I had gotten from my primary care doctor upon a follow up visit. Lesson learned. Always get a second opinion, be persistant and assertive, and know you can get those copays taken off on your taxes!
Hi all just been to Doc's about mine, had this for like 10yrs plus, very much in to active sports etc and seemingly many years ago i strained a muscle in my abdomen and it flares up. It's a feeling like there's something under your ribcage that shouldnt be there? The Doc just simply put his finger into my rib and asked me to sit up, straight away i felt it flare and he did too, simple answer was it's a muscle problem that's never healed and who knows how long before it does, if ever! Was worried for yrs about it. hope this helps, for those experiencing the same thing.
Ive had a dull cramping pain near the lower left part of my ribcage. I know i would get cramps there sometimes when i was degydrated, but as of a few days ago, no matter how much water i drink it doesnt go away. As long as im sitting/laying down, i feel fine. But as soon as i get up and walk even a few steps, the pain comes back. The more i walk the worse it gets. But i did notice that i didnt have it when i rode my bike. Not sure but i dont think i had it while skating (ill find out in an hour tho). The more i walk and run the worse it gets. Ive had no nausea or any of that either. I havent done any tests yet of course, but i did have my anual doctors appointment recently and all was fine.
again with many of you i have this same pain underneath the left side of my ribs typically at night time when im sitting/lying or not doing any activity and would love further infomation on this a it causes alot of discompfort and pain.
I have had similar symptoms for 10 months now. It all started with an ovarian cyst on my left side and within a week I had the pain under my left rib, I thought the cyst had moved up or caused my organs to push up. The cyst resolved on its on within a month but the pain persists. I also had horrible heartburn start at the same time. I took prilosec for several months and am now heartburn free off of the meds for a few months. The pain is a constant dull ache, that gets really annoying when I sit for too long. I notice that its better when I'm on vacations although I don't feel too stressed when I'm home-maybe everyday life is just stressful. It has started to effect my back more now, I constantly stretch and twist my body for relief. I've had a CT and spine xrays-all normal. I get anxiety and think the worst daily. It has completely consumed my thoughts and I get really frustrated that it can't be solved or even diagnosed!
Pain in my lower left rib cage is a sudden stabbing pain just like a leg calf cramps but accompanied by a shortness of breath. It usually attacks when you try to reach something and goes away if you manage to assume the right position to counter it. As it is muscle related so it can be caused by something that affect its wellbeing such foods, exercise and emotion.Up to now I am still experiencing this malady as I cannot get rid of aforementioned causes.
just reading this forum seeing no one is really finding answers..
wondering if anyone takes kefir regularly. if you look up "" kefir "" on the net you will find it is an amazing natural probiotic, cheap as chips to produce, has huge amounts of vitamins that reduce stress and is ok for people who are cutting down on dairy cos the lactose is predigested in the production.. really seems to calm down people and calm digestive tracts etc
so i reckon it covers most the answers people are suggesting here.
Whaaah, so many people with the exact problem...let me join the club.
I hate this pain, it just sucks my energy leaving me pretty depressed. I have this vision that there's a snake inside my stomach...I also have this dream of shooting the spot with a shotgun...
Well...as "Sylan" replied earlier...I have too noticed the help Tai Chi can give. When I train, I often don't notice the pain at all. Sometimes, when I'm in pain, I force myself to stand up and train...then what might happen is that loud noises start to come from the pain area, a little bit of gas...and voila: disease beaten for a while...
But then it usually doesn't last for long and the pain's back...and I don't always just have the motivation to do my Tai Chi...today's been one of those days and I'm in pain right now. This just sucks, doctor's really don't take me seriously...or they reply "It's emotional", well...sure it is...but what should I do? No answer...
I had this pain a couple of years ago now, and now have digestive and internal issues, which the doctors don't have a clue about. Have been diagnosed with IBS, and given medication, but haven't taken the full medication, as I just believe it is masking the real problem. Have done lots of research into food allergies and now believe that certain foods have given me digestive issues. Mainly gluten so for the last 3/4 weeks have been trying to steer clear completely of gluten. It is difficult, and rather time consuming in supermarkets to assess all products you are buying. However since more or less cutting the gluten out of my diet my symptoms are easing. The full digestive issues have still not gone away as still have a distension in the stomach area, and also have a gnawing pain in the vertical line between my two ribs.
So maybe worth looking at your diet, as gluten is now known to be bad for people, along with sugar.
I am more educated about food than I have ever been, and on the plus side have gone back to basics cooking from scratch, which is so much fun, even though I have limited time, and actually now enjoy meals more, without the tired and worn out feelings that I had before.
