I have been suffering from pain (severe at times) in my upper right side in my rib area  , I have had this pain for nearly 2 years, but only started going to the er when they got unbearable, I have had an ultrasound, hida scan, ct scan and recently an egd done. Still not showing anything wrong with my gallbladder, but yet blood test indicate that I have gallbladder disease....And now I am staing very sick at my stomach and having pains in my side daily.....Has anyone else had all these test and show nothing wrong with the gallbladder and then later on it end up being the gallbladder, please someone let me know something i'm going nuts with all this pain and sickness
I had the ultrasound and it showed an inflammed gb wall with polyps. I had the hida scan done and it came back normal. The Dr.S didn't think it was my gb to blame. I had to convince them it was my gb causing my symptoms (nausea, aching under right rib cage, bloating). Finally after all other tests came back normal they decided to remove it. I had it out on march 29. The pain and bloating are gone and the nausea is less severe(i also have gastritis).

I had my daughter 6 months ago and had what I assumed was just indigestion now I am frequently having pains on my right side the pain is so severe sometimes it travels across my whole back width. The pain is directly next to my breast about as wide as my hand and my back pain is usually at the same level as my breast. I'm actually awake right now due to some pain. It always seems to happen at night while I am sleeping or as I am going to bed.
Anyone have any advise or known causes? My temp is usually about 99.7 which isnt odd for me.
Hi, I have been having pains for over 2 yrs now in my upper right side back and front. I have been to 3 dr's have x-rays ct's ultra scans and blood tests but all come back ok. I am about to go for more x-rays and another ct tomorrow and I am hoping all is ok. My pain can vary from sharp to just dull, it does not keep me awake at night and most times if I am busy I do not notice it untill I am thinking about it. On the other hand when it decides to play up bad it goes all day. I have not had to take medication for it. Sometimes I wonder if the doctor's really know what they are doing or are they just stumbling around in the dark. All I want to know is that it is not cancer.
It's good to know i'm not alone :)
I have had this upper right side pain right under my ribs for about 4 months now. I had a partial hystorectomy in dec. Of 05. Ever since then it feels like I have a tool or something inside me. But I have had the xray and sonogragm and then a ct scan all came back great. Unsure what it could be and yes the doctor is even and the I just dont know stage. I am wondering if its my imagination, but the pain is there and it sometimes is worse than other times. At night when I sleep I do not feel it at all nor does it keep me awake. Only in the day time does it bother me. Its strange reading all the messages here and no one seems to have an answer. Help
I've had deep pain under my right rib off and on for 2 years also. Now it walks around to lower back as well. Tested gall bladder kidneys stomach etc. Colon lots of expensive test. Then I stumbled across a diagram of spinal/nerve map. And fond a possible solution, since the dr's just told me I was fine. T11 and t12 compressions cause deep pain in the area as well as chronic constipation and all of my symptoms. I remember having pain in the back of my left leg for a time that was caused by pressure on l4, so this made sense to me. I've started seeing a chiropractic specialist and the pan is aleady better. Wish I had all the money all those test cost, back again.
For about one week I have been experiencing this pain in my right side under my right breast in the front, and around the same spot in my back. Sometimes I feel the pain on my side under my arm, and I often have pain on my spine under where my bra strap would be. The pain is not severe. It also seems to move around some. It does not keep me up at night. Laying in certain positions makes it go away. It also seems that drinking water may help a little. I don't have health insurance, so I am very afraid of going to the doctor. I know there are going to be tests that I can't afford. A few years ago I had severe pains that felt like a band wrapping around my stomach. I had three ultra sounds, but nothing was found. My mother had a similar back and side pain that she thought was the gallbladder, but it was a chiropracter that helped her. There are some other boards similar to this one where the people are talking about similar pains and fatty livers. It is good to know that I'm not alone with this. I am a full time student, amployee, and mother. I have student teaching to do this semester along with five classes, and I just don't have time for this. If anyone knows of anything that will help please let me know. Thank you all for your posts.
Hello I to have the same type of pain and was wondering what it could be. I find it know affecting my right arm know. But my to moves around. I am looking into health insur. so I can get looked at. Please let me know if you find something out.
First let me say I have never done this before, I am a mother of six children all very healthy all their lives they range in age 27 to 15. For the past ten months now my 15 year old has been complaining about this pain she has just under the right side of her ribs, it is always there but at times it worsens and I'll find her pressing on that area and bending over. I have brought her to her doctor a few times in the past few months and they have done blood tests and x-rays and are now ordering a ultrasound to check her spline, pacreas, liver, stomach and gallbalder, the stange thing is I took her again today to her doc's but her regular doc was not in and she saw the nurse praticioner, I was telling her the nerologist that she saw recently for her headaches started her on a med, that she has been taking for about 10 days, this is not listed as on of the side effects and had been happening before these med's were given. The nurse was saying that they are finding that people who suffer from a history of headaches migriane or constant recurring headaches also suffer from abdomial pain and discomfort, they are finding they may be related to each other, possible due to hormones in the body, I was suprise to hear this as my daughter has pretty much had a migriane headache every day for close to a year with a few days here and there headache free. I also did alittle research on this organs to find what their function and reasons for have them are and just my conclusion was a few of this organs have bile secreations and there has been times when this bile ducts can get clogged or blocked and cause the endroine system which takes fluid through you body trough the glands and help with the immune system now I'm not sure the whole process but I'm gonna keep researching to see if any thing else comes up that makes sense. Over the years I've learned no one knows your body better than you so you all need to keep listening to your body and keep at these doc's to they can figure it out.
Have you tried a chiropractor for rib and headache pain?
Check with a chiropractor. My son has a rib that moves out of place and causes the symptoms you describe. The chiropractor was his solution. A chiropractor can often solve headaches, as well. I would highly recommend giving it a try.
I've had pain under the middle of my right rib cage for 7 months. Had Ultra, CT Scan, Heda scan, Food induction/emptying study. I have bloating and nausea- always after I eat. Gurgling comes from my right side usually 15 to 20 minutes after I consume food. I don't have bowel problems or anything like that and they've sent me to Infection Diease, done 16 blood tests, Rhumatologist, and now I'm with a GI Doctor to have a colonoscopy and a colon stretching test. I still think it's my gallbladder, even though all the tests have come back normal. I've also started bruising easily in strange places, but, I'm not anemic. Any ideas anyone? I'm frustrated with Kaiser HMO at this point.
