Vomiting, Nausea, Right Upper Quad Pain And Weight Loss...
Posted: 05-08-05 16:49pm

I am writing in hopes that I can have someone else's point of view. I am under a doctors care (actually my primary and gi specialist) but want some help because this process is taking way to long.

In january I started having horrible right upper quad pain, nausea, vomiting and have lost over 21 pounds since late january of 2005. I have had a normal cck, ultrasound of my entire abdomen and gallbladder, normal ct of my abdomen. My egd was normal along with my all of my laboratory results. I do work in the intensive care unit but have been trying to be a patient only and not a over bearing person with a vast amount of knowledge in the medical field. My next step is a stomache emptying test. ( you eat eggsalad with contrast and then watch it go through your system) as of now I can tolerate jello, clear liquids and some other light foods. I have been hospitalized numerous amounts of times for my vomiting which didn't stop and caused electrolyte imbalances and dehydration. My gi specialist is still talking about my gallbaldder and possibly seeing a surgeon. What else could be wrong with my gallbladder? I don't have stones, no sludge has been seen, my ef was normal 81%. I am at a loss and continue to loose weight and feel horrible. If I wake up in the morning on a day I have to work and am nauseated I just don't eat. No one wants a nurse that is vomiting taking care of them.

Stomach Problems, Vomiting And Nausea
Posted: 05-16-05 19:46pm

I too have been dealing with stomach ailments since november. It started off with having bronchitis, it then led to vomiting everyday, nausea, difficulty swallowing, no appetite, loose stools etc. By february, after medication, blood work and other tests, I had a scope done. They found the h-pylori bateria, ulcers, swollen esophagus and polyops. They gave me antibiotics for the bateria, and removed the polyops. Since then I have had constant nausea, some vomiting, difficulty swallowing, loose stools and some stomach pain. I graduated from clear liquids to now my diets consists of eggs, toast, peanut butter ( but now that is even bothering me) and dry cereal. I have recently gone through a swallow eval, and ct scans of my abdominal and pelvic areas with the results coming back negative. I am about to give up. I have been researching the nissen fundoplication surgery and am going to ask my doctor about it and see if I am a canidate for it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Emerzrn: Is Your Liver Ok?

Sadly, those are classic symptoms of a hepatic disorder. Have you had your albumin, afp, ggtp etc. Tested? Perhaps a liver ultrasound would be best. Hepatits, cancer etc. Can present with those symptoms.

Good luck to you.

Constant Nausea And Pain In Right Upper Quadrant

Well dearies,

i too, have been having this problem since 2003, and let me tell you something. You need to get a barium-burger test done to see if you have a twisted stomach.

Dr. William chey, in rochester, ny might be able to help you find a solution (my solution? Don't eat any fat, keep it out of your body, forever. . .) keeping away from fat is hard for me because I am a reformed junk food junkie. However, I had an operation for malrotation of the stomach. Feeding tube placed in my abdomen, that I would have to turn three times a day: all to prohibit my stomach from twisting into a knot. Well, for the most part, it worked, however, I also have gerd, and need to watch everything I eat, because even the slighest wrong taste in my mouth will completely repulse me into a vomiting frenzy. Joy! >:{

so, we fix gerd with protonix, and we fix stomach, but I am still in miserable pain/taking vicodin to quell that rain.

One other thing you might want to check on (which I suffered from) is h. Pylori. A bacteria in the stomach which basically eats away the lining of the stomach. Rather brutal amount of antibiotics, but got rid of that as well.

So, what am I trying to say? I'm in this shitty thing with you, and I am working on many different theories to help myself and others feel better.
We still don't know why i'm in so much pain, and why i'm still vomiting every day, but I know I will find ways to better myself, and focus on my artwork and music.

Try yoga, pilates, and very gentle exercises to help tighten your insides. It's a pain in the ass at first, but when you start seeing the benefits, you don't want to stop.

Good luck to you, and please, check those two symptom related diseases. Might make some sense out of the matter.

Sweetly yours,

suzi willpower
