What is normal semen?
Semen is usually white or grey, but can occasionally appear yellowish. Pink or red semen suggests that blood is present. Although this is only rarely due to a serious health problem, men with semen that seems bloodstained should seek advice from their family doctor.
Semen clots almost immediately after ejaculation, forming a sticky, jelly-like liquid. It will liquefy again in 5 to 40 minutes. It is quite normal for semen to form jelly-like globules and this does not indicate any health or fertility problem. Failure of clotting and subsequent liquefaction can cause fertility problems.
The average volume of semen produced at ejaculation is 2 to 5ml. Volumes consistently less than 1.5ml (hypospermia) or more than 5.5ml (hyperspermia) are probably abnormal. Lower volumes may occur after very frequent ejaculation and higher volumes are seen after prolonged abstinence.
The World Health Organisation provides a definition of a 'normal' sperm count:
the concentration of spermatozoa should be at least 20 million per ml.
the total volume of semen should be at least 2ml.
the total number of spermatozoa in the ejaculate should be at least 40 million.
at least 75 per cent of the spermatozoa should be alive (it is normal for up to 25 per cent to be dead).
at least 30 per cent of the spermatozoa should be of normal shape and form.
at least 25 per cent of the spermatozoa should be swimming with rapid forward movement.
at least 50 per cent of the spermatozoa should be swimming forward, even if only sluggishly.
It is quite surprising how many dead and abnormal sperm can be present in a 'normal' sample.
Measuring sperm count is a very technical business and results can be affected by many factors, including the length of time between ejaculation and semen sample analysis, and how the sample is kept when being transported to the lab.
There can be enormous variation in sperm count in an individual, even over a few days. It is important that at least two, preferably three or more, samples are analysed, each at least two to three weeks apart. A single sample is inadequate to assess semen quality.
Sperm count is only an indication of fertilising capacity and a normal count does not guarantee success. In addition, more is not necessarily better, as too high a sperm count can also result in fertility problems.

Hey, i am 16 years old, and i do masturbate on occasion, and ever since i started back at age 11, my cum was always gel like, never anything you would see in porn or anything, anywho its pure gel like. Is there anything i should do? I am never in pain when i ejaculate. I am a heavy junk food addict, and i drink soda/coffee on regular. Never saw a medical specialist about this, frankly I am secretive about anything personal like this.
Thanks in advance

Don't bother, It is normal
The causes of jelly-like sperm is the massive concentration of protein compound of your sperm in your "testicular sperm bank"..usually those teens that masturbate actively for years and suddenly refrain from doing it have a greater chance of having this stuff(though its normal). Because during the time youre still active in masturbation your testicles produces more sperm so it needs sugar and protein to produce a liquid substances wherein your sperm swam. so your brain may senses that during your frequent masturbation or sex maybe, it send a message to your testicles to produce more of these substances. Consequently, to the certain point of time you did not masturbate for along period, the sperm and protein base liquid in your testicles may over reproduce and the tendency of this if you were unable to let it ejaculate, it will accumulate in your testicles and becomes highly concentrated. and Subsequently this causes your sperm to look like a jelly - like substance...its normal as long its color varies from white to yellowish and no blood or black or green.if you have some symptoms of pain after your ejaculation, observe for sometime and if it doesnt stop that's the time you consult a doctor.

Infertility may cause due to Varicocele. abnormal size blood veins in scrotum which cause heat and make sperm stock dead. scrotum is made outside of body to keep sperm stock at low temperature but varicocele can cause heat. it may happen when you pick up load or use power to push, pull or hold some heavy material or even in constipation situation. so have testicular doppler scan. normally in men, 50 % of the men have minor left side varicocele which is tolerable but more intensive can cause infertility which is curable by using carduus in homeopathy and calcium fluoratum 6X ---4 x 4 grains
keep your balls cool and don't use extensive physical strength

hopeful for betterment

Jelly-like Semen
I'm 23 and I have had this for as long as I can remember. I've always been a worrier, so naturally I thought of everything that may have been wrong with me lol.

I have never used recreational drugs, and I am a fit and active person. Granted to say I don't tend to get my 5 a day, but my diet is reasonably healthy.

But with all the information I have read it has come to my knowledge that this is completely NORMAL... It seems that this is a common concern for people, but in my past relationships, none have even raised an eyebrow about it (and they're men themselves) So I come to the conclusion that the majority of men have the same 'issue'.

So stop panicking and get that sex drive up and running! But, I am not a doctor, so if you do have any concerns or other symptoms, I would advise you to visit your GP.

Happy cumming! Smile

I am 19, and also gay, i have the problem though, that when i cum, its like all the seminal fluid shoots first, then a long stand gel, followed by a bit of pain, slides out. I also have the problem of while bottoming, when i cum, its just fluid. No murky white. Just straight up clear fluid and i dont have the gel-like stuff slide out. Idk what is going on down there.

long rubber silicone gel clumps plugs in my semen
ok let's narrow this down because it has plagued me for 38 years and i really want to solve it. the longest plug/strand i ever ejaculated was over 3 inches long. yep, so where ever they are residing in the body it has to be an area that is at least 3 continuous inches long. sometimes they are thick. sometimes very thin. sometimes they look like sausage links strung together. sometimes they are clear, other times they are quite yellow. sometimes they are "y" shaped like they are forming at an intersection of some kind. often mine come out middle to near the end of the ejaculation. i sense they are residing down by the testicles where the vas deferens meets the testes. if you look at a diagram of the scrotum you will see as the tube starts to come off the testes there is a heavily coiled section that almost looks like tiny intestines. from this area the vas deferens begins to straighten out and then continues up to the seminal vesicles and prostate on the way to ejaculation. these strands have the tensil strength to make this entire trip and still remain as one long strand, almost like a noodle. once i ejaculate, i can touch the end of one and it will cling to a dry finger and you can hold it up and let it dangle. they do feel just like that rubber stuff that makes a new credit card stick to the paper....kind of gummy and rubbery like silicone. so narrow your search to an area in your body that can hold up to a 3 incher and that will help us zero in on the problem spot.

I know this thread is super old but the topic is still relevant since most people just randomly Google their symptoms so I hope I can help. First off I'm a 27 year old male who served over seas. I'm no doc, but I do alot of research. For all of the men that describe your symptoms I'd say it is simple and the doctors wont tell you what is really your problem because alot of them are either quacks, don't know any better or wont tell you about fungus being a root problem because they could (and some have lost their licences. Now I'm not saying all of the men here are the same but candidas is so prevalent it makes since ..my back story is, after serving in Iraq, I heavily used steroids over the course of two years..after this I pretty much let my diet go but still worked out. I drank loads of booze, and drank tons of energy drinks. Mg emotional state was in shambles..i had severe erectile dsyfunction not only from using steroids but i anti hair loss medication called dutrastride. (Spelling?) My advice to anyone using this medication is dont do it!!! It kills the conversion of testosterone to dyhdrotestosterone and weakens the muscles that cut off urine control bowel movement and help maintain erections. I would say what those muscles are but I'm writing this on my phone and I don't want to lose this. Anyway if it werent for the grace of God id still be impotent today. As for my help recovering with erectile dysfunction, kegels are the answer. You can research how to do them its basically flexing those muscles and holding..it improves blood flow and helps with penile strength as well.. so I'm about 80% from when I was normal, and I've only been doing it for a month or so..(everyone's results vary, 6-8 weeks of flexing should help alot) any way back on topic. Stringy semen. Fungus.. yeah so about four months ago I got a painful epidimital scysts. Left testical. huge doctor bill and

Eventually ended up becoming prostitis. Severe bloating pain in Lower abdomen..thick clumpy discharch and pain in tip of penis, trace blood in the semen and the only relief was poop or pee since i felt my body was so inflamed all the time... now something to mention..I had thick discharch right after steroid use.. something to note. My semen wasn't normal since steroid use.. but I didn't develop the prostititis until 9-10 months after steroids. Odd? Not really ..what I've found out from readinging everywhere is, candida can turn fungal after steroid use. So I went on a month long course and stopped every ten days due to hives and doubt. Dumb you would think, but I wanted to test to see what was causing this prostititis. See, I read that there is chronic bacterial, acute bacterial, non bacterial but chronic inflammatory and some other inflammatory prostititus..so I tested with pain and prayer..all my symptoms. One thing to also note.. antibiotics are an anti inflammatory!! They don't just kill bacteria ..they releif inflammation!! They also kill good bacteria as well as bad.. so basically I kept having reoccurring of pain in the hips but the prostititis went away..everytime I went on the antibiotics my semen would turn to normal but afterwards it would get thick and stringy.. causing blockage and backflow.. so as I'm doing research and wondering why I still had pain in my back and hip region, I look up candida symptoms and fungus.. you guys should too. Sticky semen. White stuff around the lips, inflammation, and all the causes of yeast infections in people.. basically it has to do with the diet. When you have an extremely high Ph, fungus can grow any where in your body at will.. so cokes, drugs antibiotics, all that crap lowers your immune system and fungus can get out of control.. I looked up the back pain and the "lumps" associated with my prostate infection..turns out there is a correlation with candidas and lipomas as they are called..there is also a correlation with cancer and fugue.. in fact many doctors have found out cancer is a fungus.. crazy I know but its true.. in America we eat a ton of carbs and a ton of suger..these are perfect breeding grounds for fungus.. and yes you can get fungus even in the prostate.. but many people are sick and doctors aren't telling how to get better, rather, they want to cut, slice and dice and put you on antibiotics which make you worse!!. So my hypothesis summed up.. is, I took a bunch of drugs, had an aweful diet, my semen got chunky, I developed scysts (eventually both balls) it turned into prostititus, 3 different doctors told me it wasn't bacteria from lab work, did my own research discovered candidas, went on an suger free, Carb friendly diet, (it sucks I'm still on it) eating a ton of garlic and drinking colloidal silver which kills all single celled pathogens including fungus. So sorry for the Hodge podge of info, I know it is scatter brained but I'm in a hurry and I just wanted to contribute to the info since I only read other peoples issues and never input. Needless to say my semen is improving but isn't completely back to normal. I know the thickness of the semen came first and the infection later.. this is too much yeast!! You can do a candida test where you spit in a clear glass of water and if you see strings you may have a yeast issue. Some people disprove the idea on the internet but I think it holds some informational value to see how thick your fluids are since most of the body is comprised of water.. anyway, do some research on fungus and candidas.. if you want to rid yourself of these problems there must be sacrifices ..but don't just take my or some doctors word for what you have.. you are your own best physician ..and Christ is the master physician. I went through and am still going through this hard time.. and there were moments where I cried out to God for help to heal all the dumb things I did to my body and to forgive me of my sins and stupidity..Proverbs 2:2-6 says so if you make your ear attentive to skillful and Godly wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding, yes if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek wisdom as for silver And search for skillful and godly wisdom, as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.. so don't give up guys.. if you are having pain and troubles, just know that even if you aren't healed, Christ is still our healer, and sometimes the trials we face are meant to draw us closer to him, because we can always do it alone.. please allow your hard times bring you closer to him and not farther away, Jesus loves you.. I pray healing and delieverence in all who read this in Jesus name be blessed.

semen jelly like
you guys need to drink a lot of water.

one of the reasons the semen is jelly like is that you have not enough water in your system, it is dried up and lacking liquid and fluidity. Drink a Lot of water. At least a few glasses every day, as many as you can. The government reccommenddation for safety for dribnking water is an average of 8 GLASSES A DAY , TO STAY HEALTHY. Thats a lot, and i do not dirnk that much. I will need to dirnk more to help with this.

Jelly semen ??? Help
About a week and a half ago I experienced what I thought was the stones. It hurt when I urinated for a sec or two , then disappear but always pressure like something was there blocking the flow but didn't stop the flow. Once finished. All pressure and pain would stop except traces of blood would be visible if I squeezed any left over urine out. I've been tested for stones. Ultrasound and x- rays. No word back yet. Haven't seen blood in a couple days nor have I had pain ... What worries me is (I apologize for the blunt topic) before this happened I use to Masterbate and my semen would be white, thick , and a fair amount. Now it's white/ yellow but that comes out stringy kinda but within secs turns to jelly like substances ... It is also about 85 to 95percent less that I use to produce. This "semen" i produce now dries up very quickly and looks very weird. Also it kinda hurts when I Masterbate and I feel like not all the semen escapes ... If I should see someone or if anyone has tips please let me know.

Worried Sad

Gel-like substances in a man’s semen are rarely the sign of a serious health problem. The most common causes of gel in semen are dehydration, diet and low testosterone. Thick semen is cause for concern only when accompanied by other symptoms, such as blood or painful ejaculation. Men who are experiencing a combination of symptoms might be suffering from a prostate infection, an overabundance of antibodies in the sperm or an infection of the epidytimis.

When a man says that there is gel in his semen, he usually is referring to one of two things. He may have noticed small, gel-like clumps in his semen or be noticing that his semen is thicker than normal. Neither of these things necessarily mean that a man has unhealthy semen.

Clumps in semen are usually caused by dehydration, but may also be caused a change in diet. It is completely normal for the semen to vary in consistency and color from time to time. If a man is consuming more protein than usual, his semen may appear thicker. Even stress can cause the consistency of a man’s semen to change.

Infrequent ejaculation can also cause the semen to appear lumpy. If a man ejaculates infrequently, protein might begin to coagulate inside his testicles. Many men compare the consistency of this type of gel in semen to tapioca pudding. Thick or lumpy semen also might be because of the man’s hormone levels. Men who have very low testosterone might notice that their semen is fairly gelatinous. If low testosterone is to blame, the appearance of gel in semen might be accompanied by fatigue, irritability and decreased libido. Men should consult their physician if these symptoms persist for more than two weeks.

A rare — but possible — cause of gel in semen is an overabundance of antibodies in the sperm, which is known as sperm agglutination. Sperm agglutination is caused by a man’s body recognizing his sperm as a foreign substance. To rid the body of this substance, the immune system releases antibodies to cling to and fight the sperm. This condition is so rare that it usually is diagnosed only when a man is tested for infertility.

If the semen has become so thick that it is difficult or uncomfortable to ejaculate, an infection might be to blame. Prostate infections will frequently affect the color and consistency of semen. Epidytimis, which refers to swelling in the scrotum, can also cause the semen to appear gel-like. Sexually active males who are suffering from epidytimis should be screened for sexually transmitted diseases, because this is a common symptom.

Most of the time, gel-like semen is not a sign of a larger problem. In fact, in terms of fertility, gelatinous semen is preferred. Thin, watery semen is less able to adhere to the walls of the vagina, which can make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg. Unless a man is concerned or experiencing other symptoms, gel-like sperm can be considered normal. If other symptoms do arise, men should consult with a healthcare professional to determine the cause of the problem.

I got this information from http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-commo n-causes-of-gel-in-semen.htm
I thought it might help with the problems you have been having

Jell Sperm
Hey 34 year old here; in decent shape, drink LOADS of water, and have a great diet. Its nice to see that there are others going through the same issue. I have a semi-active sex life in addition to masturbation and have not contracted or tested positive for STD's nor am I an illegal drug user. No children (due to not having anyone)But after reading some of the posts on here, I happen to notice a common theme, drugs and medication. I am on a few scripts and I noticed the string jelly like sperm when I ejaculate ever since I started taking the meds. Celexa changed to Lexapro; K-pins; and a few others. I notice its almost like silicone I also notice that some mornings when I wake I cough up something similar. Weird; I wonder if its something in the air, water, food, vaccines, what?!?! Maybe with a lot of us 20s/30s/40s somethings; should ban together so we can figure out exactly what it is and what is causing it.
