Q: Had Total Hysterectomy 10-28

I am 52 and was in the hospital 4 days. There was more pain than I had expected but once I got home was much better. I retained alot of water but just kind of sore now. Everyone said not to do anything and that's the truth. I felt pretty good 9 days after so decided to wipe down the bathroom. Don"t do it. You'll pay later. Just really tired the rest of the day and night. Today (11 days after) my husband and I went to a movie. It was ok but that is all I am doing for the rest of the evening. I am glad I had it and am on the mend. Good luck to everyone else.

Congratualtions barb,

thats lovely to hear that you are feelings so much better. My mum is 59 and she just had a hysterectomy. It took her about 2 weeks to recover, she was in bed the whole time, although she suffers severe anxiety and has anurysms on the brain aswell, which didn't help matters. But I know how worried your family must have been. The hysterectomy also triggered menopause, so now she is taking hormone treatment, which I think helps. Good luck barb, i'm sure you will be feeling 100% in no time.

need help
how did you pay for your surgery. My mom is only 47 and needs a total hysterectomy and has found one hospital that will do it for a very low cost but our hometown hospital wont send her records over to have the surgery done. She has been in pain for several months and just in the past 3 weeks she has been in servier pain and bleeding heavy. she has became very weak and im really worried. Im only 22 and I dont want to lose my mother over something that could be solved with surgery. Please help me!!!

I would think this hospital that will do this surgery, has doctors that will check her out for this operation...I am not sure what the procedure is as far as sending the records, however, I am sure there is someone where you live that could find out the legality in this matter...Check into it....Good luck...
