I quit my job 4 months ago and have not had insurance since then. I've applied for health insurance, but because I have asthma and I am an ex-smoker (quit 2 months ago), I haven't been getting approved for any health insurance. I currently work as a substitue teacher and get no benefits of any kind. Can anybody help me?

Insurance carriers vary from state to state, so what is available here in ga may not be available where you are. Your situation will present a challenge. Your best bet is to find an agent with at least 5 years experience and familiar with the underwriting rules of several carriers.

If you have been turned down by one carrier that will make it more difficult to find coverage.
