Q: My Fertility Doctor

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for five years. We finally are going to a doctor in lima, ohio. When I asked him about pcos and high testosterone levels he admonished me for looking on the internet. He said he will cover up the problems by getting me to ovulate, not actually fix the problem. Is this a normal practice or should I see someone else?

Stand Up to Your Doctor
The same thing had happened to me but I was 23 yrs old going to my doctor saying this. He acted very mad that I was telling him what I thought was wrong with me!!?? I had to let him know that the only reason I had chose his practice was because I knew that he had diagnosed somebody else with the same condition. So, my point is, stand up for yourself or just get another doctor. Because if your doctor want listen to you then he isn't hearing what you have to say and he wont help you the way you need to be. Good luck.. :)

I have to say I agree.

I'm in a similar situation. I've had a major gynae op and have evidence that points to a different outcome to the one I have been told but they refuse to discuss the situation with me.
Pretty much the attitude is that they are doctors, I am a patient, and no matter how many books I read and how many case studies (i am a member of several medical research sites) I present them with all I get told is that what I am saying is not possible and does not exist hmmmmmmmmmm

so stand up for what you believe, I even took the line of saying "look humour me, investigate to prove I am wrong" but they wouldn't even do that, so now I have an official complaint in progress.

I agree with you too....Why is it doctors try to convince us of something we know is not wrong with us and beat around the bush, it's almost as if they're saying "ok when this patient comes in i'll say she has this wrong with her and if she doesn't agree i'll get pissed off." I remember 3yrs ago when I went to the er for some severe stomach pains and they kept me there for 3 days and I was trying to tell them my history and what I thought was wrong and I said they should do an internal sonogram and check it out and the dr left came back and said "look i'm the only one here right now, that is an expensive test and you're not getting it done." oh it was so funny I looked at him and said "listen here doc, I don't know where you went to school but it's apparent you wasted your money cause your lack of knowledge is starting to piss me off, it's pathetic that I went to school for 2 years to become an emt and you went for a decade and you're still as dumb as a box of rocks, we pay your salary you're doing the test." he got all pissy but he went and called the technician and in an hour I was found right, I had cysts all on my ovaries that one had burst. I'm sorry I got a little of the subject but I hate how dr's do that..,...Me and my husband are wanting to have my fertility checked to make sure we can have a baby because of alot of the difficulties I have had and she look at me and she's like you're young you should be fine, and does an exam and it like everything feels fine. I just look at her and say we've been trying a year and nothing has happened don't you think you should look a little more into it. I'm 23 and if I can get help now so in the future I can have children we need to get started. Dr's aggravate me so bad......If I had gone to med school to be one I sure as hell wouldn't be like that,.....Good luck to all those trying may we find a better doctor.
