Hi,

i am hoping someone can give me a clue as to what this is: I have moving neuralgia on my limbs(sometimes on my back too). One day it is the right forearm, next day left forearm and fingers. Then time can pass with nothing and then it starts again maybe on my thigh, or shin. There are no visual symptoms, only this pain that feels kind of like fire or sunburn with tingling. My clothing hurts it and any breeze is painful. My doctors say they have no idea...Imagine that. My family doc. Said he thought it sounded just like shingles in the pain, but there are no sores. The neurologist said he had never heard of such a thing and basically blew me off. Anyone heard of such?

Thanks,

mickey

Hi there! I am very sorry that you are having these problems! I live with this 24/7, even though I am no Dr., my feelings is that you might have rsd(reflex sympathetic dystrophy) or possibly peripheral neuropathy, it is one nasty monster to deal with, there is a lot of information about it on the internet. Rsd can be cured pretty much if diagnosed early, then you can get a pain specialist and get some nerve blocks done, I was diagnosed late and I will have to live with it the rest of my life, unless they find a miracle cure.

Good luck to you!

Sincerely,
sandy

Sandy,

thanks for the reply. It is good to have a starting point for research. I am 41 now and have had this on and off since I was about 20. Since my first post today it has also flared up on the back of my lower leg...Ah..What a joy. It has never been disabling, just irritating, painful and disturbing. Odd how it will disapppear for months, just to reappear and remind me I have some unknown disorder.

I found the info on peripheral neuropathy interesting. I see it can be caused by inherited genes or autoimmune disturbances. As kid I was diagnosed with some sort of autoimmune deficiency. I seem ok now, except for this and a propensity for colds and flu.

Thanks again,

mickey

I am sorry that I could not help you in a more positive way and I do understand what you are going thru! I have found out that you must keep functioning, try not to let it get you down and I do realize that it is easier said than done but we have to do the best we can.
Sincerely,
sandy
