I wanted to throw my period off by a week because it was going to come during vacations and what now, so I started taking another 3 weeks of birth control pills, with no week in between the two packs. Is this ok to do? Or should I stop taking the 2nd pack?

I've done this several times to avoid getting my period on vacations. Actually, just yesterday I started a new pack and skipped the sugar pills of my old pack because i'm going to california this week! It's absolutely fine to do every once in a while. You don't need to get your period every month- look at that new pill seasonale where you only get your period 4 times per year!... We just feel like we're going to mess something up if we manipulate it so that we don't get it every month... But really, it's fine. Nothing happens, and you'll get your period just like normal the next month when you start the sugar pills.
