Q: 3 Moths Post Op, Bleeding And In Pain!
asked by: MomofTrips on April 30th, 2005

After a difficult triplet pregnancy and delivery, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy following my c-section (partial, only removed uterus and part of my cervix). It has been just over three months since my surgery and I have had no problems until today.

I have had really intense cramping on my right side (i am assuming it's the right ovary) and when I went to the bathroom this morning, there was blood (a pretty significant amount and there were clots). It reminds me of my period. What could this be? I am in a lot of pain. Is this cause for alarm? Should I go to the er or urgent care?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Valerie

Same Here
I went back to my dr, who told me that it is normal, although my family dr is telling me otherwise, now its up in the air, although I know that I am not suppose to be in pain and having my body act like its having a period with having a hysterectomy.

This sounds serious ! Go to a doctor and let me tell you, if he doesn't listen, then find another.
I had a hernia operation and told my doctor that I was burning up with a fever and felt real sick and was hurting down there. He said it was all normal. I woke up the next morning to find that my incision has come completly open, from having a staph infection inside from the operation. Called the doctor again and he said it's still normal to be draining. I had hubby take me to the er and they found out I had the infection and said they couldn't believe that he said it was normal, when it's not !
It took 3 weeks of cleaning and packing, going to the doctor everyday to get rid of the infection. So if they don't listen, get help else where !
They don't know everything.
I didn't have bleeding and pain for that long. Just a little over a month and not that much pain.
Good luck hon and hope all works out fine.
*had my opeartion 4 months after my 10 lb son was born* and they took it all ! Love having it now...

Bleeding After Hyst
I had a partial hyst almost 4 months ago (oct 14) and have been having cramps and like spotting for the last couple of months. My doctor keeps saying that my endo is back and my bowels are cramping. I don't believe him. I know the difference between bowel cramping and menstruel cramps. He now says that he should have done a total. I am not going back into surgery, and definitely not with him! This whole thing freaks me out. I had a perfect recovery with not so much as a drop of blood until now. I don't know what to do. From everything i'm reading this seems to be a common problem...But why? I thought when they removed your uterus you were done with pain and periods...At least that's what I was told. This is depressing.

Pain!
Hi everybody, I had a complete hysterectomy 3 months ago and have seen a few spots of blood in the beginig on my second month. The doctor said it was normal and so is everybody else...I just hope it doesn't get worse!

What's worrying me now is pain in my stomach. I experience pain from time to time wich feels like small electric vibrations! Is that normal?? It's nothing big but i'm worried that it will lead to something else!

So please...If anyone has any clue or extra info about my situation...Please write back....I'll highly appreciate it!

P.S. How much are we usually allowed to carry....I mean, how heavy can something be for us to be 'allowed' to carry it? Many people are telling me that the pain I am feeling is a result of working around the house a lot....Are they right??

Thanks!

If you still have your ovaries, it is possible that you may have cysts on them causing the bleeding when you ovulate. My daughter has cysts on hers and although she has not had a hysterectomy (she is 21) she gets terrible in-between bleeding and pain. The doctor says it is from the cysts.
Check this... Might be one possibility.

To answer the electric question... From the reconstruction of the abdominal muscles, sometimes I feel like a burning/electric sensation. It should go away with time my doctor said. Just don't overdo it and work on the muscles gradually.

Bleeding 3 months later after a total hysterectomy
I have been having bad back aches, a little cramping. I woke up this morning to small amounts of blood. I also have tingling in my lower abdoman. I was told that is from the nerves that were cut during surgery.

Any advise on the bleeding?

I think you should let the doctor know that this is happening...Two months OK, but let them know...
