I am a 46 woman, average health, abit
overweight but have been having a pain in
my right side for the past two days.
This pain is off and on, been feelling
icky!
My father had an appendic rupture at the
age of around 68 and had severe problems.
I'm afraid if this is my appendics I
might wait too long, is it something I
should worry about. Maybe just some gas
on my stomach, but why is it just in that
area??? It can be painful jabs at times.
Can anyone advise me on this? I myself
live in a very, very small town an hour
away from a doctor and I don't want to go
to a doctor just for gas?

Hey momteach3, how are you doing?
A doctor's examination of the abdomen by
touch (palpation) may reveal tenderness.
In 90% of cases, acute cholecystitis is
caused by gallstones in the gallbladder,
which obstruct the duct leading from the
gallbladder to the common bile duct (which
drains into the intestine).
Tests that detect the presence of
gallstones or inflammation include
abdominal ultrasound, abdominal ct scan,
abdominal x-ray, oral cholecystogram,
gallbladder radionuclide scan, and a cbc
shows infection by an elevated white blood
cell count. Nonsurgical treatment
consists of pain control, antibiotics to
eliminate the infection, and a low-fat
diet when food is tolerated after the
acute attack.
