Can Anyone Answer My Question About Bulimia? Please Posted: 04-21-05 16:16pm
Hi huys, i'm really worried. Is it true
that once you get bulimia, you end up
bingeing more and more and your binges get
bigger and bigger? I am just so stressed
out about this, i'm scared about all the
weight I am going to gain. :(
anyone know is this is really what
happens??????

I have to say that in my case that is
true, however it has gotten alot better
now. In the beginning I would eat only
small amounts and then get sick but I
think the more you do it the more you are
able to stomach more food because you know
it will not stay so its kind of like you
go for it full blown food fest. I have
heard some stories about the different
binges that people have gone on and really
I think once you want that food there is
nothing or no one that will stop you.
Don't try to fight the urge to binge
because it will just make it so much worse
and you will end up binging twice as much
later on. Instead before you go on a
binge write down how you are feeling and
what you are thinking about, then go on
your binge and puck if you need to but
afterwards write down again how you are
feeling and what you are thinking. The
reason I am not telling you to binge is
because its only over time with
proffessional help that the behaviour will
stop but perhaps until that time comes you
could begin yourself. Watch out for how
you feel and think before a binge and then
after it. See if you can deal with those
thoughts and feelings in a different way
other then using a binge. You might feel
like you are out of control or that your
day is not going well, then think how can
you change it for the better without going
straight for food. After all. Food
usually ends up making you feel worse
although little amounts often is good.
You know I want you to get help but you
have already explained that to me so thats
why I want to help you help yourself in
the meantime. You are very intelligent
and very strong, use those strenghts to
help you ok.
I am here anytime for you, I hope you are
well, take care of yourself

My binges get progressively worse;
eating normal amounts of food, then I feel
bad...Then I throw it up nad move on,
fine. Then, I do it again. Then I binge
food, throw it up. Then I get to the
state I know i'm gunna do it again, thats
when I binge on so much food and junk,
just knowing i'm gunna purge it all, I
can't stop myself eating then I throw
up.
I feel bad before, during eating I feel
guilty and after I feel guilty followed by
saddness then when my sickness goes away I
feel better.
Best thing to do is to get speaking to

Jenny is right. Do not try to stop a
binge or it wil get worse. Im my case. I
used to vomit after intake about 700-1000
calories aobut 1 time a week. Now im aat
aobut 4-5 times aweek after a 2000 calorie
binge. I believe that it was becuase I
tried to hold out more and starve myself
more. After an episode I would feel
guilty and try to make up for it by not
eating the next day, then cravings would
it and I would start eating a little and
think "its just about 100-200 calories it
wont hurt" then I would eat more and more
and thinke "its not that much I just wont
eat the rest of the day" this continues
unitl I realize that I had eaten more than
I had planned and I would be like "screw
it" and then the binge came. Do not try
to stop a bigne do not try to starve
yourself. If you binge one day, do not
try to make up for it the nxt by not
eating. It will only make the next binge
worse and occur faster.

So how do you stop bingeing...
You gotta stop it and have the willpower
not to do it again?
Am I wrong?

From my own experience the bulimia did get
worse & worse until I went in to
treatment. First I only threw up
sometimes but before I knew it I did it
every day. I think part of it is your
body gets all starved of nutrients so it
keeps craving food. But if you never let
it keep the food then it keeps craving.
It's a horrible vicious cycle.
You can stop, with help. It's really
hard but it's possible. I haven't binged
or purged in years & I don't miss it.
The key is to get help, because at first
it's like stopping a drug & you go
through withdrawal. You feel bad because
you;re not used to feeling full &
you're afraid you'll blow up like a big
balloon.
That doesn't happen, so don't worry. If
you get back to eating & keeping down
normal meals, your body will adjust.
Continuing to screw up your metabolism
& appetite with binging & purging
is what will make you gain weight in the
long run. So please get help! It's worth
the struggle to get well.

Well in my health class last year I rember
watching a video about bulimia and
something they said was that when you are
bulimic it takes longer to digest your
food like it doesn't digest as fast as
someone with out a eatting disorder so it
takes more time till you acctually feel
full so that could be true I am pretty
sure that is something that they said
