Hi,
i'm not sure if this is the right place to
ask for advise... But here goes :)
i've recently had a liposuction procedure
performed to reduce the amount of fat on
the side of my face (i had really chubby
cheeks hehe).
I was left with a very large amount of
asymmetry... So noticable i've basically
had to put my life on hold, it looks
terrible...
I'm very suspicious that my doctor did
this intentionally... There's a few
things that lead me to believe this...
First, when the procedure was done the
incision was made beside my nose rather
than on the jawline, I haven't been able
to find any references to a facial
liposuction procedure being performed in
this way... It seems kinda illogical to
me... It would make the procedure more
difficult to perform as you'd have to
compete for space with my nose.. And it
caused all kinds of muscle problems for
several months afterwards.. I could
hardly smile (not that I wanted to).
It did have the added side effect of
hiding the asymmetry for some time after
the procedure though, since there was a
large amount of swelling up there which
lifted my skin above the fat.
And I remember my doctor asking a question
on my first followup appointment which I
thought was kinda odd... He asked me
whether or not there was more swelling on
one side than the other.. As though he
were expecting there to be. And yes there
was, significantly.. On the side that has
more fat now.. The other side barely had
any.
When I asked my doctor why there was so
much asymmetry he got really defensive
about it... He pulled out a piece of
paper and said that they record everything
they do... "i was being very
conservative, we took out 50cc's.. That's
25cc's each side", and claimed that the
asymmetry may be due to weight gain or
loss since the procedure.
Not only is there asymmetry... The
contour is completely different.
He of course wants money to fix the
problem.
I'm pretty sure i'm being screwed here.
I'm not really sure what to do ... I'm
only 23 years old, don't exactly have a
lot of money.. So I can't afford a
lawyer.
I called another doctor and asked if I
could see him about this.. The answer I
got was "we don't make those kind of
appointments", so now i'm thinking about
just booking a consultation as though I
was interested in getting some cosmetic
surgery done just to get in and see
another doctor about it and get there
opinion.. Sound like a good idea? I
don't mind paying whatever consultation
fee there is.
Here are two images from different angles
of me showing just how much asymmetry
there is...
