Sometimes different medications can cause dry mouth. People who are undergoing chemo or radiation therapy can have dry mouth. Also possibly a change in toothpaste can cause reactions in the tissues. The tongue normally has different sized bumps on it (there are 3 different kinds of taste buds). Also smoking can affect things. There are different products avalible to help. Maybe ask your dentist or Dr. About it. Don't know if this helps much.
