Q: What Are the Early Symptoms of Young Onset Pd?

Can anyone tell me, what are the early signs and symptoms of young onset parkinson's disease?

I am a 38 year old male and am concerned that I may have the early signs and symptoms of parkinson's disease.

For the last ten months my symptoms have been as follows: poor balance (i always fall to the left when I close my eyes), some numbness in my left foot, a slight rest tremor in my right hand, difficulty writing for more than a few lines, stooped posture, stiffness in muscles, slowness when walking (tend to get slower and have trouble climbing steps or walking upslope), left leg has a dragging feeling, some visual disturbances (such as blurry vision). I have virtually lost all of my sense of smell, my voice is soft and sometimes raspy, and I can no longer frown or raise my eyebrows. I seldom roll over in my sleep but usually wake up on the same side that I went to sleep on.

I have been to several doctors and a neuro but they all seem baffled. One doctor even told me I was "just lazy" and that this was causing me to feel depressed. Other doctors have performed some simple tests in the surgery and these have confirmed that I have a neurological disorder, but the doctors will not commit to a diagnosis. I have been tested for ms and lyme and all have returned normal.

I would be very grateful for any comments. I tried posting this message up on another internet health forum but the mods deleted my message. When I asked them why they said I had broken the rules. They banned me from their forum, because the next time I tried to log in I got a message saying I can no longer post there. So I hope I have better luck with this forum. Please let me know if I am breaking the rules by posting this message.

I wish I could answer your questions, but I just wanted to comment that if what you posted here violated their rules, they must be a bunch of meatheads anyways!

Hi ian sorry to hear you are not feeling well. The tremors, unable to balance the body and stuff do sound like parkinson's but you need an md. To make a full and efficient diagnosis.
Why aren't the doctors making a dignosis? Its their job. Wait for a few days, if they still refuse to listen to your concerns about parkinson's, change doctors. Go to someone who will listen to what you think it might be and give you specific tests for that.
Keep posting on how you are doing and the best of luck to you. I sincerely hope you feel better. Take care of yourself.
Ps- sorry I wish I could have given you more advice, but going to the Dr. Is the only thing I can think of. Try websites online, they may give you good info as well...

Thanks
Just writing to thank everyone for their comments. I did go to a new doctor who put me on a trial course of sinemet. I improved significantly, which gave him reason to confirm a diagnosis of pd. I have a specialist appointment in september.
What really amazes me is how long I have had these symptoms without being diagnosed. I estimate that I have been going to different doctors for over ten years now with these neurological problems, and none of them had ever mentioned the possibilities of pd. Yet I have text book symptoms.
