Alright I Need Some Advice From You Guys And Im Freaked Out Posted: 04-15-05 22:25pm
Ok for the past 2 days I have had this
pain in my gum. Its not that bad a little
annoying but I can easily deal with it. I
thought it would go away but it isnt. I
looked at my gum where the pain is there
is this little white dot. Its not a
pimple or anything its just flat so I dont
think it is a gum boyle. However when I
touch it it stings a little but its not
big at all and it is flat. I was at the
dentist not too long ago getting a filling
and my teeth checked out for braces. The
guy said I have to brush my gums more but
I dont think my teeth are that bad. I
mean im only 15 and I have never had a
root canal done and if I need one done im
going to be scared like all hell...Please
tell me its nothing
by the way if you think its a gum boyle
please show me a picture so I could see
what it actually looks like

Ask a pharmacist at your local drug store
what they recommend. More than likely,
they can help you. There is a mouthwash
that could be of some help. I believe
it's called biotene-i don't remember, but
the pharmacist will be able to recommend
something to try for a few days. If that
doesn't work, then off to the dentist for
you.

I'm a not related to the dental field,
just a mother a five. Unless you are in
serious pain that distracts you from
school work, you will probably be ok.
Sometimes you just get a sore-something
you ate irritated it-overbrushing the
area. For the pain try some baby ora jel
or numbzit-yes it's for baby but works.
Only for a couple of days though. If over
the counter treatment doesn't help,
absolutely see your dentist. You are a
young to have a root canal and from what
i've been told the pain is way more
intense and your tooth would hurt as well.

Its not really the pain that worries me
its something being wrong and needing some
type of crazy procedure done that makes me
lose sleep
i can deal with pain well I just want to
know that everything is right in my mouth
and that nothing is infected
its like off and on soreness sort of like
a sore but on my gum and a flat white spot

I was trying to find pictures of your
description and the closest thing I found
was a canker sore. However since I am not
positive...
Here is a site with a link to ask a
dentist. Http://www.Lib

may they can help.
At your age, gum problems are minor. The
only thing you might have to worry about
is some wisdom teeth coming in and that is
like a bad toothache. Try the link above
to see if you can get the right answer or
you can call a dentist office, some will
tell you over the phone what kind of
problem you are having.

I think what you have is a canker sore.
Technical name is apthous ulcer. They
are very common.Often they are caused from
trauma. Possibly a scratch from a
toothbrush or food when eating (like
toast). Also people find acid foods
can cause them to occur. Sometimes they
appear if you are run down. They are
usually small, flat and white. And they
sting. Often you get them under your
tongue, along the sides, on tissues like
the cheeks, inbehind your lips. It will
go away in a week or so. For the pain
you can try something like orajel. Also
there are products our there that coat
over the sore and kill the pain. Stay
away from acidic food and rinsing with
warm salt water will help heal it.
Tissues in the mouth heal very fast. There
is really nothing you can do to prevent
them, some people get them often, others
never. If it does not get better in a
week, go see your dentist to get it
checked out. It doesn't sound like a
gum boil (absess ). Hope this helps.

I second what bt said.. It sounds just
like a canker sore. I get them in
waves.. Sometimes I just get one and then
sometimes I get a bunch. They are flat
and whitish.. Sometimes yellowish. They
go away in a few days. Be careful not to
eat anything too spicey or anything that
may aggrevate it..

I really don't want to start an arguement,
but you are so not too young for a root
canal. If you've got permanent teeth,
you can have a root canal. Don't frett
over that though. Even if you have to
have one, they are no where near as bad as
most people lead you to believe, and this
is coming from someone who won't have one
more cleaning unless she's put to sleep!
(yeah, i've got severe dentist-phobia)
all three of my root canals went very well
actually, and i'd just about rather have
one of those than a filling because
fillings are usually sore for a while.
