Tabby,
no, the so-called morning after pill is not the abortion pill. It does not cause an abortion or a miscarriage if you are already pregnant.
This is the way it works. Taken as soon as you can after unprotected sex, it is two pills containing a higher concentration of hormones that are present in most birth control pills. The pill does not prevent fertilization. First, it prevents ovulation. If your body doesn't release an egg, it can't get fertilized, it can't then implant and you will not get pregnant. However, if you have already ovulated and the egg was fertilized it does a further job. Second, the hormones harden the lining of the uterus to help prevent a fertilized embryo from attaching. However, if an embryo has already implanted (if you are pregnant), the pill will not kill the embryo or dispell it. It works like a concentrated birth control pill.

It is called plan b and can be obtained from planned parenthood for anywhere from $60-$100. I know that sounds like a lot of money but you have to compare it to how much having a kid costs. $60 is nothing compared to the costs of prenatal care, labor and delivery, and raising a child.

The pills do not cause an abortion. They work like the birth control pill and are contraceptive. If you need anything else, reply here or pm me.

Some people experience stomach cramps when they take plan b but I didn't. It's different for everyone.
Peace,
jenn

Thanks but I will take my responsibility for my actions. If I have a child then so it is. I don't want to get in the way of mother nature and I think I am gonna stop taking birth control also. My body is gonna be the way it wants to be. I want to live healthy and happy thanks for the info

Unless you fully intend to have a child, and are able to raise it properly and provide for it, you would be being very irresponsible in having sex without using birth control.

No child deserves to be brought into the world just because you have a misplaced view of "nature."

or will you also not take any antibiotics? If you were diabetic would you refuse to take insulin?

Poo -
let her have her own opinions on her own thread even though i've given her the information she asked for. You replied in another thread to this very person that the support forum is here to support, not offer opinions. While I value both of your opinions and the right to express them, this is not the place. Take it to the debate forum.
Peace,
jenn

As jenn said, the morning after pill does not "kill" anything. It simply stops you from ovulating if you haven't already. If you want to "take responsibility for your actions" then getting the morning after pill would be doing just that. It is not an abortion pill if that is what you are worried about.
Also, if you aren't ready for children, then you need to stay on the pill. It is fully safe and doesn't "kill" anything. There is nothing wrong with being responsible about sex. Contrary, there is something wrong with not being responsible with sex.
But, if you are ready for children, then birth control wouldn't make much sense.
Please don't think that being on the pill is going against nature in any way. Yes, it alters things and keeps you from conceiving, but it doesn't harm your baby, alter your chances of being able to conceive at a later date, nor does it abort.
But, of course, this is all up to you. I just would hate to see you go off of the pill because you are misinformed about it, and then end up having a baby when you are not yet ready.

Thanks for the advice. I am responsible about sex. If I were to have a child then the baby would be more than well taken care of. I think I am gonna stay on the pill but I refuse to take the morning after pill. This is my responsible choice and I know it is because if I am meant to be pregnant then it will happen. I won't try to be but if it happens I will be ready thanks alot :)
