Q: Shin Splints...(?)

Okay, here goes. This may not be the correct forum place, but I figured maybe it was because of the orthopedics. About 7 months ago, during soccer season, I began getting very strong leg pain. It happened mostly while going up stairs or immediately after I stopped running. I began having to sit practices out because I limped so much. My coach assumed it was shin splints and also directed me to go to a doctor about it.

I went and the doctor, by listening to my symptoms and situation, diagnosed it as shin splints. I've looked it up and also heard information from my doctor...Shin splints are supposed to last under a month, but rarely exceed that.

Even now, 7 months later, I have just about the same pain. I have went through abour 4 months of physical therapy, stayed off my legs for about 4 months too, and have tried everything. I have tried ice cups, the staying off my legs, all kinds of creams, pt (at which they couldn't solve this problem, even after trying three different therapists), tried so many different excercises, sat through a few scans, etc. They have checked for fractures, but found nothing except that I had shin splints. I would really like to know what is going on here, because sitting around isn't exactly doing me justice for staying in shape. I also currently have orthotics, which I have had for about two months, and haven't noticed much improvement except for in the beginning arch pain because of the extremity in the arches in the orthotics. I am addicted to soccer, and it is so frustrating to me that I can't even climb stairs or do simple things without severe pain. The doctors have also checked my back, found it clear, tested my hips, my range of motion in my hips and ankles, but nothing seems to lead me to an answer.

This is very, very, exaggeration on very, frustrating. It is also painful and preventing me from doing everyday things. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for reading :d
