I just found a lump under my armpit, it doesn't hurt , it's smaller than my pinky nail. I'm 51 years old going to be 52 in may 22. I have no medical coverage, i'm unemployed so going to a doctor is going to be hard when I have no income. What do I look out for? Please help.

you need to do a rather thorough self-breast exam and see if anything is assymetric, or if there is any kind of unusual lump in your breast, strange things going on with patches of skin on your breast, or any bloody discharge from a nipple. If this is the case, you need to go in to a clinic.

Also if the lump fluctuates in size, sometomes go away and otherwise is wildly irregular, it probably is not that much of a concern. But try to find a free clinic in your area. They are out there, usually run by the county.

Hey mirnajoe, how are you doing?

For a lump in the armpit caused by an infected, painful gland, follow the instructions about the proper treatment for the underlying infection. A lump in the armpit caused by a lipoma (fatty growth) is harmless, unless it grows so large that it causes discomfort.

To view common causes of enlarged lymph nodes, please visit the u.S. National library of medicine. Www.Nlm.Nih.Gov/medlineplus/ency/article/0 03099.Htm

best wishes,

Have u been sick lately? Like a cold or soemthing? Because scattered all over ur body is lymph nodes.. Which helps u fight off infections or anything bad in ur body.. And lymph nodes are under ur arms... They will become swollen when fighting off infection... And they will return to normal.... Is the lump painless? If it lasts for a long time and continues to be enlarged.. For more than a week... And u have done a self breast exam.. You should really go see a doctor...
