I was on accutane for 6 months last year
and I had to go back on it in february for
a second "term" or whatever you want to
call it.
If you've struggled with acne a really
really long time and it's severe, accutane
works really well. Its not for
everyone though. It can cause bad
symptoms but so far the only symptoms I
seem to get are:
very dry skin (chapped lips, I have to
apply lotion twice to my entire body, but
i'm like oc about that or something..Lol)
easily burnt in the sun
temporary loss of hearing
agression (mostly when I just start going
on the accutane)
reoccuring headaches
there's a big old packet about it. If
you're sexually active, they'll make you
go on birth conttol since there are
extremely bad birth defects if you happen
to get pregnant (if you're a girl, no need
to worry if you're a guy). You also
have to get your blood drawn every month
b/c they are required by law to check if
you get pregnant. Even if you arent
sexually active, you still ahve to get
your blood drawn.
The first time I was on accutane, I was
also on zoloft for depression. (my
family is clinically depressed meaning it
runs in the family) depression is also a
big side affect, depending on the type of
person. I think it didnt affect me as
much as it may others because I was taking
the zoloft which added endorfins and
whatnot. I'm taking welbutrin now and
I dont get depressed while on the
accutane.
Btw, in case you have no idea what
accutane looks like...Its a bright yellow
capsule that you take by mouth once a day
and you go on it for about 5-8 months
depending on each individual. 3-4
months in you have to take two capsules a
day. No cream or anything that goes
with it.
I would not reccomend this to anyone
unless you have severe ance and you've
tried every other possible thing. I
tried just about everything in there is
out there. My derma. Says that
accutane is the strongest acne medication
out there and it has soooo many side
affects, you may not get all of them, but
you can. (some bad side affects
include the birth defects,
seizures, depression, you get a huge packet
full of the side affects, but the results
are amazing!)...Look online for more
information if you think it may be
something you want to go on.
It's changed my life. I had bad bad
bad bad acne everywhere on my face, back,
and neck. Bright red, big yucky acne.
Now I hardly have anything and I dont
feel ugly anymore.
:) I hope I helped and maybe given you a
new option to try.
