I just put on my first ortho evra patch today and i'm not sure if it is normal for the sides to be slightly wrinkled. It dosen't stay completely flat on my skin. Is this a problem?? Will water get in or will it be less effective because of this?! Please help me if you use ortho evra. I want to do this right from the beginning to make sure it works like it is supposed to! Thank you so much!

I just stopped using ortho evra last month b/c the edges and corners would lift up. It stuck to my clothing and irritated my skin too. Everyone I know that uses it also has wrinkles in theirs. I would always find myself pressing on the corners. It can be less effective if the whole thing doesn't have contact with your skin. It won't be any less effective if it gets wet so don't take it off to take a shower or anything (i had a friend do that...Stupid)! Be sure to use a back-up method for about the 1st month. If after a couple of months you don't like it you can always switch! :)

Hey! Thanks for letting me know about hat because I was worried about water getting in through the creases on the edges and making it less effective! Why is it necessary to use a back up method though? Dosent the packaging say that if you start it on the first day of your period that it is immediately effective?

You're right, I was assuming you started the sunday after your period. If you start on the first day of your period, then you don't need a back-up method. If you had started the sunday after you would. But the directions also say you must start within the first 24 hours of your period or you will need to use a back-up. :)

Ortho Folding Edges
I have noticed that if you rub the patch for a few seconds right after putting it on and you also choose a pretty flat spot (shoulder) it seems to stay down much better.
