Help Me Please!!! Maybe Gallbladder Posted: 04-11-05 21:43pm
I am a 23 yr old female who has been
having sharp pain in my upper right
abdomen. (seem do be like gallbladder
systoms..But doctor keeps saying no)the
pain is usually right below my rib,
sometimes it travels to my back and in
between my rib cage. Its always
intermittent and has been going for about
6 weeks now. I can’t eat and when I do
I have really bad pain or feel nauseous I
have lost over 20 pounds with in this time
period....Which is nice because its all my
pregnancy weight (baby is 9 months) but I
have been so miserable and depressed
because of this. Currently i’m seeing
a gi doctor and have had an ultra-sound,
endoscopy, colonoscopy, and x-ray with
dye. All came out normal with the
exception of a small polyp on my
gallbladder and my lymph nodes showed they
were inflamed on the ct scan. All the
blood work I have had done has shown that
my pancreas is inflamed. I have an mri
and doppler scheduled for tomorrow. Any
suggestions of what this could be?? I
know something is really wrong with me but
I feel like the doctors think i’m crazy.

Hi,
i had the same problem. I had an
ultrasound a while ago which revealed a
thickened gb wall and polyps. I ended up
getting my gb out 2 weeks ago today.
I was feeling nauseous, really tired, and
had pain under right rib cage that went
through to my back and between my shoulder
blades. I lost all my pregnancy
weight(son is 8 1/2 months) and then some.
I wasn't able to eat
anything...Everything gave me pain and
made me nauseous. I got down to 106
lbs(i'm 25 and 5'5")which I thought was
too skinny. I went through numerous tests
to rule out other causes including blood
tests, barium swallow, abdominal
ultrasound(thickened gb wall with polyps),
hida scan(came back normal) and
endoscopy(mild gastritis). The gastro Dr.
Finally decided that it was my gb to
blame and removed it.
So far the pain I had before is gone. The
nausea is less severe and usually only
happens if I eat too much greasy, fatty
foods in one day. The fatigue is still
here but I am only 2 weeks out of surgery
and i'm assuming it's my body trying to
heal. I have gained back some weight(up
to 113 lbs :o) )
and am able to get off the couch and enjoy
my life/kids now.
I would get a second opinion. It sounds
like it could be the gb to blame.
Let us know how you make out!

Pain In Lower Right Rib Posted: 06-17-05 19:42pm
I am going through this right now and am
ready to scream. I am having to leave
work early from the pain and all the
doctors have ruled out gall bladder even
though in runs in my family. I am going
to demand they remove my gall bladder even
if I have to visit a hundred drs. I am
tired of the pain and am so thin .
Sometime I think they want you to keep
coming back for the tests and the money
they get.

Gall Bladder Posted: 06-26-05 16:08pm
A couple of years ago I started being
extremely nausious and had pain in my
right side. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months
because I couldn't eat. I told my
husband that it felt just like morning
sickness! Anyway, after every test in
the book came back saying my gall bladder
was fine, I went to a surgeon. He said
he has about 8 patients a year that
present symptoms like me and they go ahead
and do gallbladder surgery and that's what
it is. I told him to do it because I
couldn't stand it anymore. You should
see the pictures of my gallbladder! It
was covered in scars and this fatty stuff.
I ate a meal on the way home from the
hospital and didn't get sick for the first
time in 3 or 4 months. It was
incredible!

Same Symptons Posted: 01-11-06 22:58pm
I have been having similar symptoms as all
of you have. They just started about a
month ago. Some days seem better than
others but my pain is on my right and my
left side a little high between my ribs.
I was told maybe it could be my gall
bladder because it does run in my family
but I thought that pain would just be more
on one side. If anyone finds out any info
please let me know. I will be calling my
doctor to make an appt.
Thank you

I Have the Same Problem....sooooo Frustrating Posted: 01-18-06 15:28pm
I too have been having pain in the upper
right side of my abdomen. All scans
(ultrasound, hydascan, and ct scan) came
back normal....Gall bladder functioning
was well above normal. I have lost close
to 15 pounds (all baby weight as well...My
son just turned 1). The gi doc said that
he doesn't think it is gall bladder, but
it might be since my hydascan produced a
symptom reaction even though my gall
bladder emptied fine. I cannot eat
anything beyond broth, crackers, and
toast. Have nausea, abdominal pain and
diarrhea if I try to eat. I am now
scheduled for a breath test (for bacterial
infection), colonoscopy and endoscopy to
look for other causes to pain. I am
thinking that it is gall bladder and nice
to hear that some people don't show
problems on tests but still have problems
with gall bladder functioning. I want my
life back! Any thoughts would be
helpful.

All my tests came back normal as well.
Hida scan, ultrasounds, ct scans, upper
endoscope, colonoscopy, barium enema, etc.
I saw three dr's, gi, surgeon &
general practitioner. They finally
decided it must be my gallbladder. When
they removed my gallbladder it was
inflamed with adhesion's all over, which
indicated long standing inflammation. And
so ended my years of being nauseated every
day & the pain.
Hope everyone who is suffering can get
some answers soon.
