Q: Am I Bulimic?

Hello all,

can someone help with any advice?

I am not sure if I am bulimic.....
I have been throwing up my food for over 10 years, but it does not happen often. Over 1 year ago, for about 9 months, I was throwing up my food 2-3 times a day about 4 times a week, and at that time I realized I had a problem and I have tried to stop - I now only throw up 1-2 times every few months. This is why I am confused, do I have bulimia?

When I read the symptons of bulimia, it normallys says that the person eats a large amount of food in one sitting, but I do not do that, it could be a regular meal and if I feel too full, I have to throw it up. I no longer throw up all the time, just on occasion. This is why I am confused as I don't fit all of the symptons.

Thank You
Thank you for the reply, I think I knew this deep down, I just needed confirmation.

I have thought about getting help, but I have been confused.... My sister knows and she never says anything except for its not good for me. I got up enough courage to tell my fiance about this, when this was really a problem over a year ago, and he does not understand, I told him I stopped, but I think he knows deep down that I have not and he does not say anything. Its like I want someone to reach out and help me as strange as that sounds, but I guess I need to make that effort.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get help?

Advice
Hi msv. I too have had this for 10 years. While you have not been doing this consistenly or this time period you certainly do need help and do have an eating disorder. You really need to see a professional and understand the underlying issues to this diesase. You will also need to speak with a nutrionalist to help you learn how to eat more healthy. I would start with a counsellor that specializes in eating disorders, they will understand what you are going through and hopefully guide you to the road to recovery. Try researching some in your area. If you feel comfortable I would ask your gp for advice on this. You need to get help asap, it is really hard to stop this on your own, I tried for so long and I always went back to my old ways. I wish you all the best...You need to do this for yourself.

Take care...Lots of hugs!
