I would like if someone would post again after they visited their doctors. How is everyone progressing in their pregnancy?

Hi,
I'm 9 weeks into my first pregnancy and I've been feeling cold for the last two months. I have to keep drinking warm to hot water but I still feel the chills especially on my hands and feet. I had my visits with my primary first then my ob but both of them hadn't gotten a clue as to what caused it. My first blood test showed everything normal. I'm waiting for my second blood test result. For now I will take it easy and just put on extra layers. For other worried first time moms out there, just try to relax, stay positive, and do whatever works for you to be warm.

Hi, ladies! I just wanted you all to know that with my pregnancies, I was cold ALL THE TIME. I'm normally someone who gets cold easily, and I was looking forward to being warm (I hear about all these women who are so hot in their third trimester), but I never warmed up...not even at the end. Up until the day I delivered (and after!), I stayed cold all the time. The doc said it was nothing to worry about. It could be low iron, but if you're taking prenatals, your iron is likely fine. It could be low (healthy-low) blood pressure, and if so, that's a GOOD thing! One of the biggest problems with pregnancy complications and delivery issues is high blood pressure. So rest assured....unless you have some weird iron deficiency going on (which would include bruising easily and probably craving red meat), it's probably a HEALTHY thing to be cold during your pregnancy. Just bundle up and hang in there!!

Shivering through first trimester
Wow, good to hear because I am the same way! About 6 or 7 weeks into it, and the weather is warming up outside, the crocuses are blooming, and I go around cranking the heat and wearing my thickest winter sweaters, freezing regardless! I'm now sleeping with two comforters and a blanket. Iron deficiency - I'll look into it. Thanks for the info!

And as for the woman who said she was only cold during her pregnancy with a boy (and warm while pregnant with a girl), both of my "freezing-cold-all-the-time" pregnancies were girls. I'm sure there's no scientific correlation between whether you're hot/cold and whether you're having a boy or girl. I think it's simply because of hormones (and possibly healthy-low blood pressure) and just a natural change in circulation. Stay warm, everyone!

Not to worry
Hi everyone just found out that i am going to be having my fourth! And i am always cold too. With my other kids i was always too hot. But most of the time it will have to do with your hormones. just remember If be becomes concerning talk with your dr. or it comes along with any other unusual symptoms or fever. But most of the time not to worry. remember your body is changing very fast in the first month and although its the time you dont see the most your body is working all the time to provide for you new one~ Congrats to everyone~ exciting times!

An ANSWER for those feeling COLD
I am 7 weeks pregnant and feel extremely cold all the time. I asked about this at my doctor''s appointment today and they said this is NORMAL. Some women feel very hot, but some women feel very cold early in pregnancy. She said that this will change later in pregnancy (when all women feel very warm because of the internal baby heater). Now we know! Smile

The cold feeling
Ok, this is my first pregnancy, I''m 8 weeks, 40 years old, have good-low blood pressure and freezing cold from the inside (not to the touch apparently). It''s good to see that I''m not the only one. I am taking my iron supplement and have my first appointment in a couple of weeks with the midwife. As long as it doesn''t signal a problem with the baby, I am happy.... have women who have experienced "the cold" gone on to have healthy babies?

Normal? Grrrrrrrr. Not like I want something wrong with me, I''m just hating this cold. It''s not just my extremities either. I can feel it in my core. I''m just cold. The thermostat is set to 72° in our house and I have a space heater on next to my bed. I am freezing ALL the time unless I just woke up, then I''m hotter than an Alabama august. Could probably cooks eggs on me. Lol. I also noticed that it''s a true aversion. I ran a bath tonight and could feel the cold cast iron under my butt more than the steaming hot water. Come to find out, I ran the bath too hot, but didn''t notice. I DID notice the cold metal of the faucet and the yet to heat up cast iron of the tub. Other symptoms include: My breasts are getting huge and hurt, I''m slightly nauseous but it feels more like indigestion, I''m in need of daily naps and am thirsty constantly. I''m 4w+4 gestation.

Coldness at 5 weeks!
Glad to see I am not the only one, you have all re-assured me that it is ok to be cold!
I am usually cold all the time, have low blood pressure and lack iron, so all the symptoms you all mention, which would explain why I am so cold!
So am going to wear more jumpers, take some iron tablets and make sure I eat often!
I have got sore breasts, sickness and now this but as long as it is all normal I am happy!
Good luck everyone and congrats on your new pregnancies!!

pregnancy chill
I am glad I am not the only one freezing but I am not happy that we are feeling like this. I am barely 5 weeks pregnant & for the last 3 days have been cold to the core. When I do get rid of the chill, I am so darn hot. I hope this doesn't last too much longer. It is hard to function with the chill is like this. And my breasts are so heavy & sore. None of this happened in my other pregnancies. I don't know if it is an age thing. I was in my teens with my prior pregnancy & am 38 now. I am still so so happy I am pregnant even with the chills/sweats. Congrats everyone.

BRRRRRRRRR
Hey all! I just found out that I'm pregnant, just started my 5th week! I am so excited this is our first child! But as you can imagine, I am scared of just about everything! My boobs are very sore and growing by the minute! I am freezing all the time, the only thing that helps are hot showers! And am I ever tired! I can barely keep my eyes open at work! After I eat I feel a little bit better but then about 10 mins later I feel sick! And hungry, I am always hungry!! And I'm hoping that I'm not alone in this but is anyone else burping! I can't stop anything I drink or eat makes me burp, it is way gross!!

I was super burpy right before
I found out at week 5. After I ate breakfast I would burp non stop for 30 minutes. It only lasted for about a week.

I am cold all the time too. I am usually cold but was warm until about week 8 when I had my last doctors visit but lately I've been cold and other symptoms seemed to have stopped too. I have a checkup in 3 days for week 12, hope everything is okay.

I am cold also. I am 6 weeks and this is my second pregnancy. I do not remember being cold ever with my first, I was always hot. Even in freezing weather but this time I have been freezing. My hands and feet are really cold and I live in Southern Cali so even though it is Feb. it isn't cold here. I go to bed freezing and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night sweating, lol. I am taking prenatal's so I thing my iron is okay. Maybe it is just hormones!

ANSWER FOR COLD AND HOT FLASHED DURING PREGNANCY
ANSWER FOR COLD AND HOT FLASHED DURING PREGNANCY

Estrogen, a pregnancy hormone, is responsible for controlling temperature regulation mechanism of the brain. After conception, the level of estrogen increases gradually till childbirth. As a result, change in the perception of coldness and heat is expected during pregnancy. Another main cause is the malfunction of hypothalamus, which also plays a key role in maintaining body temperature. As a consequence of hormone imbalance during pregnancy, the normal function of hypothalamus is disturbed, leading to night sweats and chills. Other factors that trigger hot and cold flashes during pregnancy are increased blood circulation, stress and fatigue.

Cold pregnant Medic
I am 6 weeks pregnant and a paramedic. I am also always cold! My guess is this- Due to what I have learned about heat emergencies and such... Our body temperatures rise a bit as soon as we get pregnant making this our new Homeostasis or "normal". Our bodies adjust to this very quickly and get comfortable in it's new temperature. So my guess is that temperatures that would have previously felt good are now just a few degrees too cold and the air is sapping more warmth from our bodies now than it used to, taking us out of what our bodies NOW consider the normal range. Just my guess.

I'm bout 4weeks and the only time I get cold is of a evening after I get home from work. But it's not just put a jacket on and it goes away, its like I have to have 10 blankets and the heat on like 85. And I have never really been a cold person. I usually look forward to Winter time because of the cold weather but this Winter I am FREEZING.

SO COLD but answers from doctor, kind of...
I read all these! I am so cold!! I am around 12 weeks, but mine is a little different, i keep a fever of 102. Took blood everything is fine. Cant find one thing wrong with me. Its very very frustrating. I weighed 100 lbs Ive gained 30 lbs in my boobs, they are huge and hurt awful. I also cannot go or do anything. I dont have any morning sickness. After i eat i feel so baad.. The only thing that seems to help is junk food, and thats making me bigger. So i wish this would pass.
