OMG I'm more confused than ever now.
I have had severe PF for two years now only in my right foot, I have a pretty large bone spur that can be seen on my exray. I have had 5 sets of cortizone shots in the past two years spread out. And Now I am scheduled for surgery April 3rd 2009, am getting really nervous after hearing everyones blogs. I don't know whether or not to have the surgery, nothing else seems to work. I've also done it all.

Just say NO to Surgery!
I've had bilateral PF for for 9 years. had cortizone shots every 6 months for the first 6 years. Eventually it stopped working. I've worn orthotics, I had extracorpeal shockwave therapy on both feet, tried class IV laser, active release, physical therapy three times/week for 6 months and surgery. Surgery made me sooooo much worse. DO NOT have a PF release. I too have Lyme disease. I will start heavy duty antibiotics next week. If it helps, I'll be back to let you know. I've been reading about Lyme and it appears that it can settle in certain tendons. Maybe this will be it. My life is completely changed. I have been an athlete and very active up until 9 years ago. Now I can't stand to do the dishes or go grocery shopping. Desperate for some relief!

PF Surgery
1 had PF surgery about 10 years now and haven't had any problems. I had 3 cortisone shots prior to the surgery and it didn't help at all. I tender to have joint problems in general and the surgeon that did the surgery also did both my elbows for tendonitis and haven't had any problem either. I guess everyone is different and of course the surgeon may make a huge difference. Hope your surgery works out as well as mine did.

How do you go on when no cure is available?
I have been doing alot of searching because I am in the same boat as many here. I am 27 years old and have been dealing with pf for about a year now. I started a job at that time that required me to walk on concrete for a 12 hour shift and nothing has been the same since then. I have had pt, cortisone shots, orthotics and also the plantar fasciectomy (sp) only to end up in more pain than before. I can no longer walk anywhere pretty much. I am always in the amigo carts at the grocery store, I have gained like ten pounds due to my inactivity and no one has an answer as to why the pain does not stop. The doctor I was seeing now wants to do a complete cut of my pf and it scares me to bits. Everything else I have had done should have fixed the problem and now if this doesn't work I am afraid of being left off worse than I was before. My question is...what have you done with your life now that this has happened? I cannot stay on disability through my work place forever and unfortunately they will not provide me with a job I am able to do. Do you go back to school? Try to find a sit down job?

The surgery scares me to death...Years ago I broke a bone in my left foot so I can imagine the pain you are going through..Probably the best alternative is look for a sit down job....That is a tough call...Maybe something that you can do at home...Maybe someone else will have a better idea....Either way, I send you my best wishes...

Solution in Nutrition
After three years of having PF, I was desperate for answers. I've tried the stretching, injections, physical therapy, z-coil shoes, ANYTHING to get relief. I'm 25 years old and I like to go, and sitting down all the time just wasn't an option. I was pretty much open to any solution, but couldn't believe people when they said "we can fix that" because three years was a long time to have this horrible injury. I am FINALLY experiencing relief but through nutritional supplements. I'm so excited about this, I'm telling everyone I can about PF relief through these products. If you're open to learning more and changing your life for the better, please reply to this message and contact me. I want to help you the same way someone helped me!

Planter Fasciitis - Cryosurgery/Cryoanalgesia
Has anyone tried cryosurgery for chronic plantar fasciitis? With the cryoprobe in the proper hands, it is supposed to temporarily (for 3 years ) freeze the nerve bundles that cause the pain.

Radio Frequency Abrasion
I had RF Abrasion surgery which is an alternative to the PF release because they only use a wand to make holes in the PF so its less invasive. I had the surgery at the end of September and after 5 weeks my basketball season was starting and it was feeling really good so I played and it has been hurting even worse for the last two months. I probably tried to come back too soon but I'm also worried that the surger didn't work. Its meant to break up the scar tissue. I guess we'll see but if it doesn't take I'm going to get the PF release.
