I had anxiety and some panic attacks (rarely) before pregnancy and now that im 21 weeks I seem to have them constantly! Every time the baby moves my heart rate accelerates and I starting getitng all scared! I know that all the changes im feeling is probably normal but im having trouble getting past the attacks, the tightness in my chest, the difficulty breathing, its all so overwhelming! Has anyone else had this while pregnant and what can I do? (i dont want to take any medication...) I think my fears stem from a heart problem (tachycardia) I had when I was younger. Also, the other night I had sharp pains in my chest but im never sure w hat im making up in my head out of fear and what are real symptoms... Help!!

I've only had like 3 panick attacks my whole life, but they are scariest things like ever. You should really talk to your doctor about it!!

Your doctor can give you some exercises that help you through them and as funny as it sounds, breathing into a paper bag can also help

Hey deep breathing helps alot!!

Take a walk or pick up a book and try to read. Don't let the negative thoughts overtake you. Just start counting...One one thousand...Breathe in...Two one thousand...Exhale...Do not think about what is going on with your body....Just breath and find peace

good luck

I had panic attacks really bad while I was pregnant (before to) they got worse and I couldn't sleep and it was horrible, I don't know if you were on meds before pregnancy, but paxil is class c meaning it's newer but they haven't had problems with it during pregnanccy, I went back on that during pregnancy and it helped me alot and baby was fine and Dr. Said it isn't addicting to baby or no withdrawls and it's close to prozac which has been around for along, long time and no problems with that eaither, so eaither paxil or prozac can be given if you need it. In my opinion I need to be healthy mentally and physically while I was pregnant, so if you feel you cant cope or are reeally uncomfortable ask Dr. About meds.
